What do you think...here are our symptoms:
rectal itching
sometimes pain when having a bm
constant diarhea in the morning (me)
irritability
Here's the catch...I saw an NP about a year and a half ago...was having all the same symptoms (on top of some blood disorder stuff that still hasn't been sorted out). He tested me for parasites and the tests came back negative. So we restested to be certain and once again, negative. Nothing has changed over the year and a half. I have tried the tape test on myself with little success...it's kinda hard to do and I don't have a SO to do it for me. Everytime I try with dd, she wakes up on me and freaks (obviously!!!)
I am going to do an equinox intestinal cleanse, try to see what's going on with me, but I want to heal dd as well. Eating raw garlic for her...anyone have suggestions?
It could be a yeast issue? Candidiasis can cause rectal itching and if you have a yeast infection in your bum I'm sure it would also be hard to go #2. The cleanse wouldn't hurt and then I would take probiotics on top of that.

I second the yeast possibility. I would think that over a parasite.
If it is yeast, taking probiotics is a good idea, but I think you have to be careful because they can really be disruptive to the system if the gut is very overgrown. I think the best way to start might be to culture your own yogurt for 24 hours (storebought yogurt is not cultured that long) then start with 1 tablespoon a day and work up from there, rather than taking a pill form which might be too strong to start.
Also look at some anti-candida diets. I think the Specific Carbohydrate Diet is a good choice.
If nothing else works, you could try some over the counter foot fungus cream and try it.
Probiotics as others mentioned, are always a good idea.
I would not think that it's parasites especially after testing twice with negative results.
Also, I've read that some people get rectal itching which can turn into painful itching from colored, thick, soft toilet paper. The best is an all natural if you have it available or something like white Scotts toilet paper. It has the least paper dust in it. The paper dust can remain in crevices and cause a problem for some people.
I too wondered about canadida...we've had sooo many yeast issues...I am sick of dealing with them. We take a probiotic, acidophilis tablets and eat plain, organic yogurt. We use natural tp....great thought though, I wouldn't have figured that one.
I will be doing the cleanse myself but what do I do for my no longer nursing little one? Black walnut? Garlic?
It's difficult for a child to eat raw garlic. I would not suggest that. You can certainly cook with lots of onion and garlic. That is always a good idea and kids generally love it.
