Do you actually boycott Nestle?

So we all know Nestle are the big baddies of the world, & I just assumed that everyone here boycotted Nestle. But recently I've seen several threads where posters have recommended Nestle products & nobody has batted an eyelid. Are there fewer boycotters here than I thought?

Too be honest....I have not really started boycotting companies. NFL is a newer concept to be and I am trying to take things one step at a time.
: Does that make sense?

I try to bocott Nestle myself and refuse to buy products from them. My dh on the other hand is addicted to Butterfingers and will buy one about once a week.
Yes I do.
Yup, I do, DH does and we were both brought up boycotting them

I try but gosh they stinkin' own everything I like. I was SHOCKED when I saw the list. I do boycott anything that obviously Nestle though.
I don't.
Can you link me to reasons why we should...
:

Also what products are theirs?

Baby Milk Action - think that's the link
They have a list of Nestle products up there too, not sure if it's just the UK products though.

mostly, yes.

they make tim horton's coffee (canadian coffee chain). i don't care for tim's coffee anyway, but i don't drink it from them on principle.

i avoid most things, i slip occasionally.
Definately. Except when I'm on a really hot construction site and someone kindly brings me a bottle of water ... and it is Poland Spring.
They, and several other bottled waters are now owned by Nestle.

Gerolsteiner and Evian are the only ones sold widely in NYC that aren't.

Nestle and the other big big companies (like Philip Morris which is now called Altria
-- it sounds so altruistic) are into everything.

Here is a link to Nestle itself: http://www.nestleusa.com/PubOurBrands/Brands.aspx

And frankly, it is weird that the water isn't listed.
On every label of Poland Spring, it says "Dist. By Nestle Waters USA Inc." So does Perrier.

Whoops! Found the water site. http://nestlewatersnorthamerica.com/waters/

Edited to add other sites:

http://www.alcon.com/
http://www.dreyersinc.com/

And noticed on this page (http://www.nestle.com/) this little tidbit:

Quote:
Nestlé's CEO Peter Brabeck participated in the World Economic Forum in Jordan in two interesting topics: Water Security: A Path to Prosperity and Peace and Seizing the Moment: The Global Investor Perspective. Webcasts available
You know, access to water is a MAJOR issue in this world. I guess "Do You Think Water Should be Free?" is a different thread topic, though. Funny how Nestle so efficiently works to market two really fundamental things and turn them into commodities: Mothers' milk and water.

I know
Cadbury-Schweppes have just bought up Green & Blacks so I'm trying to move away from them as well. Since Cadbury aren't exactly the purest of the pure I'm trying to patronise other organic/fair trade chocolate brands.

To answer my own question, I do boycott Nestle. I was brought up in a non-Nestle household so it's always been almost second-nature to me.

Yep, I boycott Nestle and all their many products.
DH went to the grocery store w me the other night and he was making fun of me and frustrated because I wouldn't buy MANY of the things he wanted :LOL (smucker's-made by nestle, and Kraft and GMO stuff and then garbage he was trying to put in the cart) He called me a food nazi!
Then we went in the dog food aisle b/c we are getting a puppy and he got so mad at my careful deliberations he left and waited in the car!
It is easier to boycott these companies when one shops at independent stores that do a lot of screening for you. Essentially. (Of course, that doesn't work with Green & Blacks now.
)

Like shopping at my really independent health food store/coop. Buying direct from a farmer's market. Buying from individuals who make stuff themselves. Going herbal and eschewing the pharma-medico complex.

That is, the more NFL one is, the easier it is to be NFL, I guess.

exactly - i don't buy products that have "nestle" emblazoned on them, but i am terrible about remembering who else they own.

Just read the fine print on the lables.

It'll take longer, but you'll remember after a while.
