I watch my friend's 5 month old in the mornings (only for an hour and a half). she ALWAYS poops on the way over here or right when she gets here so I always need to change her. Her mom keeps forgetting to bring extra dipes over so I have just been putting her in cloth. :LOL Her mom thinks its great, and would switch, but she works most nights and her hubby has enough poblems changing disposables! :LOL But this got me wondering...do you put other people's kids in your cloth? Is there anything special I should be doing with her dipes? She's EBF so her poos aren't bad, but so far she's just peed in the cloth.

I've used cloth on my niece and nephew in a pinch... and just washed like normal. I don't really have any reason to worry about stains or ruining them becuz they are ebf too.
What if she bought some aio's that have applix - and work just like sposies?

I would love to show another mom how great cds are. Every time someone near to us is having a baby I make sure they see all the great alternatives. I just keep getting the same comments. "So cute, but to much work" I just don't get it. I am getting ready to open an in-home daycare and would love to cd all the little ones.

I totally would. I always want to grab my friends babies and switch them into a cloth diaper but figure their parents would think I am a freak, as would I. I also have been thinking about starting up daycare so I can stay home with my little sweet pea and my plan is to not accept disposables. I will provide cloth diapers for the babies and if they arrive in a disposable they will have that sposie in the diaper bag to dispose of when they get home. I just don't like seeing babies in sposies at all. It really bugs me for some reason. I cringe every morning when I have to put my DD in her tushies for daycare. Another reason I want to stay home with her.

I watch my niece every week or so for my sister and when she's here I put cloth on her. But I don't tell my sister because I think she would freak! But I don't care, she looks so cute in it. And my sister is due in a few weeks with my new niece who I will be watching also. I am sooooo tempted to buy some really cute newborn dipes so I can have some fun while she's here

When I watch my friends daughter, I always send her home in a cloth diaper as a suprise for her Mom when she changes her next. I usually get a call about an hour later with a HAHA.

She is a busy Mother who is a nurse too but refuses to touch poop.

??? I asked her what she does at work, she says I wipe butt, but she refuses to change cloth diapers?

Things that make you go HmMMMMmmmmM???? DUH.

We had a BBQ over the weekend and our friends have a son a month older than Jake. They don't have much money and when she arrived to the BBQ she asked me if she could borrow a pack of diapers (disposies) untill they got paid on Monday. I had to tell her we don't use disposies and showed her my stash
. Well her son pooped and she had one diepr left and she went to the car to get it and by the time she came back I had her DS all changed in to a FMBG fitted and BMJmarketplace soaker and a clean t-shirt. She was amazed how cute he looked and the boys looked so cute with their lil wool butts crawling all over my house and backyard
. I so wanted to send her home with a stash of cloth but I knew she wouldn't use them as she kept commenting on how often I changed the boys and that she couldn't keep up with the laundry and house work if she had to change Parker every 2 hours. I also did a load of diapers while she was here to show her how easy it was
. Anyway, I got to CD Parker for about 6 hours and it was fun but in the end DH gave them some money to go buy disposies on the way home.

I might be starting to babysit my nephew in September and I am definitely going to use cloth on him. He was here for a few days last week and the smell of the stinky disposables filled the whole house!
My bro and SIL would never even consider using cloth, they have a hard enough time doing the regular laundry, but they don't care if I use it on him. Of course it is also going to save them a buttload of money on disposable diapers, so I know my brother will be happy about that!

my personal philosophy is that our child rearing philosophy is there as an example, but its wrong for me to be pushy about it. so i try my best to grit my teeth and never proselytize (sp?) but nothing like the exaple of seeing a happy dry bottom in a cloth dipe with a fleece liner
two of my friends have switched to cd's as a result, but most of them still think i'm nuts. what cracks me up is dh -- we both work, and he tells anyone who will listen how much easier cloth is and how much money we save (and i try to not ruin his illusions on that second point, lol)

I convinced a friend of mine to switch to cloth when her new one arrives in Nov for cost reasons. While she was here a couple of weeks ago I put cloth on her son (i changed him cause he gives her a real hard time and not me) She though he looked adorable. The next time she came we used a fb as a swim dipe most of the day.

I sneak into nurseries at night, banish the smelly 'sposie and leave the baby with a soft, fluffy butt!
(I know that's the baby duster but it looks more like a fairy than the Dumbo-esque smilie IMO).

That's what came to mind when I read the post's title. Perhaps that's why no one leaves their children with me?

Do you get your fluff back? I'd be afraid it would get tossed by the unbelievers...

I don't send my fluff home with unbelievers. I get sad when I see that lil dry CD butt get covered up in a hot, sweaty, sticky, scratchy, stinky, gross disposie.

I've watched my 8-9 month old niece a few times and put her in cloth. I loved putting her in infant prefolds b/c I could actually do it right. Plus she was a light wetter and didn't need any bulk.
I doubt I'd tell her parents b/c even though they never see/touch/smell/taste/hear whatever it, they'd think it was super gross and not let her come over or something. They're oddballs to say the least

I'm just wondering...

It seems like a lot of us get upset when we send our kiddo to Mom's or MIL's and they come back in a disposie. Isn't is similar to put someone else's kiddos in cloth without the express permission of their parents? I know some of my friends would freak out about it (the whole other kid's poop/washing thing) and it seems disrespectful of their choices.

I know I wouldn't let my parents or ILs watch DS if they wouldn't follow along with the way I want things done, i.e. cloth, etc. They are very good about things like this though (respecting our choices), so I'm not expecting any problems.

Not trying to cause trouble

I have done it once - when a friend left her children here with nothing to change them into.

Actually - not cloth diapers, but a cloth training pant (the cheap waffely kind) and a gerber pull-on vinyl cover.

I do, my friends son came home with me from his house once, it was supposed to be for a few minutes but his mom fell asleep ith her new baby so he was with me for a few hours (she freaked when she woke up) and I didnt bring any of his diapers (she converted me) so he wore Liam's. Another time we were over there with no diapers and used one of hers.

My other friend brought her 5 week old over and we were going to wash all her prefolds in sportwash because her accidently got washed with an air freshener and she brought sposies for him so I put him in a med bumkins AIO and it fit! Then when she left I put him in a pocket diaper she had that had never used (didnt know how) stuffed with a hemp trifold soaker of mine.

I have no other friends with diapered babies who use sposies though.

I would.... I wish my friends who didn't use CD would let me put their babies in nice soft fluff while they're visiting, too, instead of using disposibles.... but if I were watching the kid and once of Grace's diapers fit, I would totally put it on before I would put on a disposible. I figure, our babysitter refuses to use cloth, I can refuse to use disposibles. BTW... may be getting a new sitter. I'm tired of buying disposibles for the occassional trip there. I have had one small pack of disposibles since the end of March and there are only a couple left. I'm not buying more, either! Cloth goes w/ us everywhere now. :-D I'm very proud of that, too!

After running the nursery for VBS all this week, if these kids were in my home I would *definitely* be putting their bums in fluff! My son is the only cloth babe in the bunch. Those sposies stank!

On a positive note, one sposie mom watched me take a buckeyebottoms side snap off C and whip a gorgeous valorkids on with her jaw hanging open. I pulled his "shorts" up (he was in a tiedye tanktop w/ pullup cover set) and set him down, done as quickly as the sposie changes.
