I dont know how to explain this. DS is my 3rd and last baby. I feel like I will be empty when we are done nursing. We are nowhere near done (he is ONLY 4 months) but I sometimes think about the end and get sad . I cherish every moment when he looks up at me and gives me a half smile with milkie running out of his mouth.

I just can't imagine life without nursing....KWIM?

Yes, I am there with you. I love every precious moment with DS, and we cannot have another one biologically. I cry thinking about what has passed and how sweet it was. Originally I planned to nurse for 1 year. Now I'm going to do 3 years, as I can't live without this. It's too much of who I am.

We are in the process of adopting a baby from China, but she will be 1 year old when we get her. I may be able to get her to nurse, but there's no guarantee.

So there's a sadness, but also an unknown hope.

Yes. I definitely feel that way too as DD will almost certainly be my last baby. DS nursed to 2.5 and I am hoping DD will nurse longer than that because I really don't want to give it up.

I'm not there yet, but I am pregnant with DC3 and we have decided because of finances that this will be our last babe. I get teary just thinking about it, and even told him how upsetting it is to think of getting my tubes tied, but I know it's the right thing for us to do. Anyways, I really want to let the baby nurse as long as he wants, maybe/hopefully three years, if I'm lucky. I just know that some day I will be having the same feelings as you! Good luck mama!

Earthmama, you can get clips on your tubes, which is a reversable operation. My friend had her tubes clipped when she was very young (18), and can go to the OB at any time to have them removed.

Nursing. The cure-all for mama and baby. It's so easy to sooth bumps and teething and everything between with a little booby, I don't know how parents who don't nurse get along with it! :

I don't know what I would have done without nursing for those tantrums and boo boo's. DS#2 is 21 months and I don't think stopping any time soon so that is good but I can't imagine when he is done. I cherish every moment. (Okay I do sometimes think oh my gosh! when he has gotten up 5 times during the night but I wouldn't change a thing!)
