First off I have to say I love, love, looove EC. Did I mention how much I love it?
: My DS will be four months old this week and we have been EC since about two and a half months maybe. He has always loved having a dry bum. Would freak out if I didn't get his dipe changed ASAP.
I definitely think that helped me along in my EC search/path.
I just had to get some input on a few things from you mamas.

So do you get those days where you're not catching anything? Well that's me for the last two or three days. I've caught maybe three pees in our potty, which is just a little tub that he goes into while I hold him on my thighs. Some days are tons of catches, others not so much, sometimes it falls right in the middle of the EC spectrum. Usually my catches aren't this far off three days in a row though.
:

Well he started the beginnings of teething about a week ago and I think a growth spurt is afoot also, my little guy has been an absolute bear the last week or so!
He's been so fussy and I'm having such a hard time reading his signals cause a lot of times when he has to go he gets fussy and if he's already a fussy pants I just can't tell.

I've had days where we'll only go through maybe two PF and I'm all dancing around on my EC cloud o' happiness. The first time I ever caught a pee it was like an adrenaline rush or something because it felt so good to be so in tune with my babe.

OK so my next question is what do you ladies do if you're nursing and you see your DC is about to pee/poo? Sometimes I think I should just pop him off and let him go but he's just so darn content there eating that I just don't have the heart to take away his booby.

Oh, and one more. A lot of times at night DS will get so totally mellowed out that I just can't tell when he's ready to go. Whatever I'm doing I've just made it second nature just to check his PF ever so often. Maybe I should just give him a pottytunity every fifteen minutes or so? Hmm...

Anyway, sorry about the length of this post.
I just have longwinded issues that won't always be controlled.

YES, totally there were days and even a week once that I missed EVERYthing!!! I felt bad - like I was losing my attachment to DD... but that, as it happens, wasn't the issue at all. It was just one of those things.

I've read/heard that some mamas keep the potty on hand while deachild nurses and just pops it in place when they can see or know that DC needs to GO. I started EC with DD when she was 10 months and already walking and nursing less frequently, so I never really ran into this... but I plan to do it with the baby in the belly once s/he is born!

Absolutely, there are days like that. I found it hard not to feel like a cruddy mama, in hindsight though, it's just one of those things. It happens, then you're back to normal again.
If I was nursing ds and I knew he had to pee, I would either stand up and carry him attached to the bathroom and let him let go into the bathtub, or stuff a recieving blanket between his legs. I don't think it ever happened that he had to poo while nursing.

Right now, my 14 month old and I are taking a break. A really long break. I'm washing diapers every day again, and he's peeing everywhere. Naked lots of the time, but not at all interested in the potty. And when he was your baby's age, we'd have a week of great success followed by days of great unhappiness, as I'd miss his signals, he'd pee and get upset and that would start a bad cycle of things for the rest of the day.

EC;ing is, I think, like most everything else in the parenting realm. Some days it works, and some days it don't!

I can relate to this quote. A few days ago we were dry for over 24 hrs and all I wanted to do was come on here and rave but I knew the second I did I would be plagued with a high miss day and even though I didn't come to rave I still got my high miss day. But those days where my baby barely wets 1-3 diapers in a 24 hrs span just give me so much motivation. Everytime I cue my baby to pee and she pees I am inspired all over again and know that she is really understanding where she is supposed to pee. Even when we were in diapers all the time she was one of those ones who wanted to be changed at every pee. I have the bad EC days, I don't get down about it. Every day is a new day. There was a few mornings that I had gotten peed on 3-4 times before 11 am- all I did was just put a diaper on her for a few hours or the rest of the day and wait for my inspiration to come back. It seems that after a miss I'm more susceptible to a miss and after a catch I'm more susceptible to a catch. I love EC too. I'm so glad to have a supportive partner too, when he comes home from work he pretty much takes over! He loves EC.

My girl won't pee on me while she is actively nursing- I try to pee her before feedings but if she refuses then I just watch her carefully. When she is really eating she won't pee, but if she pauses even the slightest bit I will try to potty her again because it's usually during those pauses that she let's loose and pees all over me. Sometimes also for backup I just stick a prefold underneath her while she is on my lap. I've learned this the hard way by getting peed on a lot since my 4 month old girl is naked at home 90 percent of the time.

Oh I hear you APMom.
There are some days where DS and I are just covered in pee and it's too funny.
Like the other day I was getting ready to do our loosely snappied oversized PF thing and he started peeing then grabbed his penis and pee went everywhere, soaked us both.

Glad to see you've got a good sense of humor! It can be your best friend on days like that, I should know!!

We had a period of about 3.5 weeks where I didn't catch a thing, and I stopped even trying. DD was having diarrhea and very unpredictable... then it took us a while to get back in the groove.

So, take a break, but don't give up!

I had one of those days yesterday.

DD had been holding it all morning after having had breakfast, a cup of milk, and a cup of juice. After about 2 1/2 hours I just knew she had to go. She would sit on the potty for a few minutes but kept getting up. DH was trying to keep her on the potty, but the last time she got up, ran, and let loose all over this expensive toy that we borrowed. (It is one of those step-on piano things that lights up and plays tunes and stuff.) Usually I can just clean up a miss, tell her it goes in the potty and no big deal. But for some reason I was mad. Not that she peed on the toy, but it was like she knew she was doing the opposite of what we wanted or something like that. Mind you she is 16 months old.

DH took the whole thing apart and cleaned it. Luckily it still works, but that is when we decided it was time for the toy to go back to its rightful owner.

Anyway, today we backed off a bit. We'll probably only do her after nap pee, and start again tomorrow. But man I was peeved!
