I always get requests for videos of homebirths from my clients. I have alot of videos that I loan out, but most of them now are waterbirths. This is nice, but many of my clients want to see more land births, too. I have Gentle Birth Choices, which is great - and Special Delivery (which is old and every baby is greeted into the world with a bulb syringe suction!), plus tons of waterbirth videos.

Do you have a video of your birth you'd want to donate to my library? Waterbirths, homebirths, or birth center births wanted! Assisted or unassisted (my most popular homebirth video is an unassisted video!). I want to collect some videos so I can put together a nice tape of births for clients.

PM me if you're interested in contributing. I would be willing to make the final video compilation available here on Mothering!

I'll talk to you in Jan, Feb or March. We have great plans to video this birth. And, I would love to share it with you Pam. Afterall, you're always on here giving such great assistance to so many people. I feel like the MDC community is indepted to you in many ways.

So, here's the plans we have for the birth video so far:
1. We are compiling a turning/time passing sequence. I wear the same stretchy, tight fitting outfit every month and turn. They will all be spliced together. I actually don't think it'll be perfect, but it will show the idea of the changing growing body.

2. My husband interviews me at trimester points. He interviewed me right when we found out. And, will interview me during this trimester (once I know I'm in my 2nd) and at the 3rd. And, after the baby is born.

3. The actual birth will most likely be tripod filmed. I don't know if I'll be in the water. If I am it won't be in a birth tub, but just our small bathtub. Last time I delivered on land. I kind of imagine this will be the same.

Anything else you can think of that would be interesting? I wanted my husband to do the interviews with me, but he's camera shy. We are by no means professionals. It will be very homespun. But, I think it will be fun.

Hey, what's the UC birth video that's so popular at your place? Title and where to get it?

Thanks!

Sparklin, not sure if this is the one she's talking about but I LOVE the video "A clear road to birth". It's been out a few years and has interviews w/JP Baker and Laura SHanley among others. I *think* jeannine sells it at www.freestone.org. If not, I'm almost positive you can get it at Laura's site. It's totally worth the $$ IMO. Has about 7 births, some really really touching. Always tears me up.

Is that the one you're talking about PM?

"A Clear Road to Birth" is the one I've been lusting after. Good to hear it's well worth it. I think I've watched that little clip Laura has on her site about 20 times now. Alright. That's it! I'm ordering it!

yeah, that's the one! I have two copies of it and they're both always out, with a waiting list not far behind! Of course, I've "lost" two clients in the past year to UA birth because of it - but it's hardly a "loss" in my book!

Thank you so much for being willing to share your birth with others! It sounds like a GREAT video with all the "before" shots!

Well, I'd be glad to share mine with you and see what you think! I'll PM you with details. I just watched it the other day, and I forgot how loud I yelled at my mw at the very end! I almost screamed, "get it out, stacy!" but I was talking about her hand, not my baby! She had been supporting my perineum (sp??) and all during most of my long pushing, and I couldn't take it anymore. Turns out it was my ds head totally emerging!! Not quite the quiet and serene birthing mother you see and would like to imagine. but hey, that's my right! Good luck with your project, and I hopee you get good response from mamas here! We really appreciate all your input you give here!!!

We're going to have our birth taped. I'd like to see what it looks like first, but would be happy to share it with you!

We did tape Bella's birth. Forgot to use the camera during the whole labour unfortunatly, so the video only starts at pushing in the pool - and covers all two plus hours of pushing. I'm not sure it is the most thrilling video in the world, most moms probably don't want to watch more than two hours of pushing :)

Can someone tell me how much the Clear Road to Birth video is?

We haven't even watched DS's birth video because...

We had the video camera all set up on the tripod facing the bed. I hated being in the bed, ran in the bathroom, water broke all over and DS was there 15 minutes later. Not exactly good coverage, lol.

I'd donate mine but dh wasn't the best camera man in the world! LOL . He got about 20 minutes of me in the kiddie pool in our kitchen, then about 20 minutes of me laboring on the bed in transition, and the midwife checking and telling me that the baby was about 2 knuckles up, me asking if she was past my tailbone (i had a very hard time getting ds past it, so i was worried), and me waiting for the urge to push. Then dh thought he was turning the camera on so that we could catch the pushing part, and didn't realize that it had already been running, and turned it off on accident. So then the next scene is me getting dd to latch on for the first time to help with my bleeding. Then it ends. I just watched it the other day.
