DD wants to dye easter eggs & I'm the only one in the family who will eat boiled eggs. Do they have to be boiled to dye them? Can you not just dye uncooked eggs if the dye liquid is at room temperature? Just wondering if I can avoid "blowing out" eggs or having to eat a dozen hard boiled eggs myself. Any advice?

I think you risk cracking them and wasting the eggs (and making a mess!) but I'm sure it can be done.

what about boiling half and blowing out the other half? That way you only have to eat 6 and can use the other 6 for cooking.

After not finding anything on google, I changed my search terms
& found here that it's ok to dye them uncooked, so that's what we did this afternoon. We just got done. DD dropped 2, causing hairline cracks in them, so I cracked them and put them in tupperware to eat tomorrow for breakfast.

PS: No, my family won't eat them in egg salad or tuna salad, either. They wouldn't even eat tuna salad without the eggs. I'm also the only fish eater in the house. Aargh!

Thanks for the feedback!
