I ask this as my almost 4yo is walking away with my plate of spaghetti.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br>
It drives my dh nuts that I let him take my food, but I am usually just about done with it, and if I am not, I tell him I will share with him. If he thinks the food tastes better on my plate, then heck yes I am going to give it up to his skinny butt. He could use the calories alot more tham me! LOL<br>
Just wondering if anybody else does this?

He doesn't reach for things on my plate and I don't just give him the plate, but if he wants some I'll give him bites or put some on his plate for him. It's called SHARING. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">

yep, sure do. I hardly ever get a "meal" to myself. Though we eat lunch and dinner at the table, there are plenty of other times that the food is up for grabs. Even my husband "steals" my food; he says it tastes better that way, lol.<br><br>

Yes. The first time she stole a buscuit off of my plate I thought it was hilarious. Of course that encouraged her and now she does it all the time.<br><br>
I wonder if that is a "bad" thing.

Ds and I routinely share a plate or bowl of food, if it is something we both like <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> .

Gosh...I guess my title should read preschooler, not toddler.<br>
Where has my baby gone? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mecry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="crying">

Yes, WE do.<br><br>
We find they eat more swiping it off our plate than eating it off theirs <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
Besides it lets them try new things <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="innocent"> Um, dd and I pretty much only eat off the same plate. If I give her her own bowl, she dumps it in mine. We feed each other and have picnics on the floor on a blanket for most meals.<br><br>
Secretly, though, I *hate* eating at the table and doing dishes. So sitting on the floor and sharing with dd is right up my alley.<br><br>
The family thinks this is gross and over the top, but I'm a freaky mama that way.

Griff is 3 and, I feel, old enough to ask before snatching something off my plate. (although not yet old enough to always remember this without prompting). It's a two-way street: if DH or I want a nibble of his food, we ask first. Everybody offers bites, too. And often we have a plate of something for everybody to share. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

Ds is 3.5 and he mostly wants to eat off his own plate, thank goodness. But if he wants mine, I usually give it to him. I have told him that it's not polite to do it to others but mommy doesn't mind, as long as you ask first.

I will give my kids bites of my food or share it with them...but, no I do NOT let them stick their fingers or forks on my plate. I willingly share, but I give the food to them..I don't let them just take it. I like to enjoy my food without little fingers sticking into it.

Yes but she always asks first. I don't mind because she has started getting picky about food and will eat stuff from my plate that she would never touch on her own. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

Yup, I encourage it! If she wants something I just chop it up smaller for her.

awww. it is so sad when you can't call them toddlers anymore. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hug">:<br><br>
but yeah, we all share. sometimes if it's just the kids and i, i will just put everything on one plate and we sit at the table together and eat. like, at breakfast, just a huge plate of fruit and some waffles.

Sometimes. Though I do try to make him ask nicely.
