I massage him every day. In fact, I just got done massaging him. he loves it! It's so great because when I first start, he is playful and moving everywhere and laughing, and then when we're done, he has this happy and peaceful look on his face, then he just wants to nurse and fall asleep. I try to do it once a day, usually in the evenings. Sometimes when he is a little fussy I will do it twice in one day. But anyway, I wanted to know if there are any massaging mamas around here??? What kind of oil (if any) do you use? Don't you just love how their skin feels after the massage?

i use a lavender smelling lotion for massage time. what i love best about massage time is that he really gives me lots of good eye contact. he seems to really dig it. at first it was strange for him and he fussed, so i only massaged him for small bits of time and only in areas that didnt make him uncomfortable,.. and after a few days he just LOVED it.

its a really special time for us.

I do almost every day. I do kind of a mix between massage and shiatsu, which does not require to be naked, so I do it over the clothes. He loves it! He almost always fals asleep....

I've been wanting to, but I'm afraid I'll do it wrong! I can't afford a class or anything. Are there any good websites out there? Maybe we can add it to our bedtime routine... we need more ways to help her unwind at bedtime!

I never took any class either. There is lots of books out there about baby massage though. I am sure you could find one in library.
I just do what feels right and he loves it. You can't go wrong with mothers touch! I am sure you'll do fine.

Massage time is a special time for us each day. I love the look of contentment he gives during the massage. It melts my heart.

Rub and love I can do!

Like Linnea, I've been interested but a little nervous. But if it will help him sleep... DS gets so full of adrenaline, especially when he is overtired. He kicks his legs (and hard!) over and over again and his little arms flail all over the place. When he does that when we're nursing I try to rub his legs/arms (whatever's the most agitated) with firm strokes, to try to calm him down. That and regular even deep breaths seem to do the trick--eventually. So I guess I am already massaging him, in a sense, and know that he does respond to it. I'll try it "formally" tonight during our bedtime routine!

Thanks, y'all!
My son has really, really dry skin so I've started rubbing lotion into his hands and feet almost every time I change his diaper. He loves it! He gets this big excited smile on his face when I massage the lotion into his hands especially...

I have been doing it more and more. I never took a class or read a book or anything, I just do what she seems to like. We do massage before bed and it really helps settle her down (until daddy gets in there and starts playing with her again : ) She really seems to like it, and I love the way she looks at me while I'm doing it.
