I have to get new diapers and I'd like to get a Mei Tei. I'd also like to try an Amby baby hammock this time around. I didn't save many newborn clothes so I'll have to get more of those, too.

When we decided to start trying (a year ago), I went crazy on the TP and bought out a bunch of mamas on their fluff. Then the whole TTC ride was such an off/on again thing that the diapers just sat....

So now I have to assess how many diapers I have and need. I also need a sling of my own, I've only ever had loaners. I need ALL clothes, and then I think we're set. LOL That's all I need, right? Clothes, dipes, sling? I don't even remember anymore...

Everything, since this will be our first!

I've made a list of what I think we need, and it looks so short compared to non-AP baby needs lists (no stroller, no crib, no toys with flashing lights) that I'm worried I'm forgetting something.

So far my list consists of:
Slings
Cloth diapers and covers, wipes, changing pad (I don't really think a changing table is necessary), diaper bag for going out, burp cloths
Baby bath (I want to get one of those tummy tubs that are shaped so that they remind the baby of being in the womb), bath thermometer, towels, care/grooming kit
Nursing bras and breast pads
Clothes and blankets for the babe
One of those co-sleeper, attach to to the bed cots. DH says he would feel better using that for the first couple of months.

That's all I've got so far. I can't think of anything else we'd need, but maybe I'm overlooking something?

The big things I'll be getting include a new swing and a new rocker for baby. I'll pass on the ones we already have and splurge on these ones that I really want and think will be really helpful to us this go-'round!

I also need to bulk up our diaper stash. After DS2, I sold about half of all of the XS and Small diapers. He was still wearing medium and ML when he potty trained a few months ago, so those are WELL worn and probably not useable again. But at least I have a while to think about buying those!

I would love to try a wrap with this one, too, and *maybe* a mei tai (I have an Ergo already). It's hard to resist some of the slings I wanted and never got with Iain, too!

And, of course, if it's our first girl, we'll need CLOTHES!

I don't think so -- we still have everything from our other kids. I might get a little baby bjorn (I think that's the brand) potty.

Definitely some slings! I'm so psyched to get some. I put my boys (together) in an mayawrap but for some reason it was really uncomfortable with dd so I didn't sling her much. Clothes if its a boy. I got rid of so many of my boys' stuff -- just figured I wouldn't have more kids, so I don't have anything til about 12mos boys stuff.

Everything else I have like 12 of.

I want a real highchair this time around, we only used a booster seat with DD. I want the kind with two or three removable trays so I am not constantly washing it!

other than that, I only really need newborn dipes/covers. and clothes if it's a boy. I'd love a new glider too, we cheaped out on the one for DD thinking we wouldn't use it enough for one of the expensive ones and I used it every day now it's falling apart!

NB, small and medium dipers, covers, wool. I still have Jakes larger diapers and trainers. I got them all together to wash and post on TP a month or so and never got around to taking pice and posting them LOL. We need new wipes ours are worn out and I've been throwing them out as I find them in the wash. Clothes up to size 12 months (I gave away all of Jakes infant clothes) Have a boxes of 12 months 18 months 24/2T still. If this lil one is a boy we wont be buying a bunch clothes since they will be the exact same size and season. (they could even end up having the same B-Day) If we have a girl then we need all new clothes.

Then any infant toys we think new lil one would enjoy playing with. I got rid of all the toys and things.

I'm so glad I didn't have the heart to get rid of my sling stash. I've been tempted but just couldn't do it. So I'm set on slings, although I would like a girly sling if we have a girl.

Might need a highchair, we have over a year to decide on that though. other than that Jake never really used all the bouncy seats, swings, and exersaucers we had. He was happy in his sling or rolling around on a blanket exploring his toys. Oh a stroller! we may get a stroller one that Jake can stand up or sit on the back and lil one can ride in. We will be doing a lot of walking to the store since they built a mall and stuff within walking distance of the house.

Oh, I didn't even think about a new glider! We got a cheap one when dd was born and it fell apart when ds was a toddler. Maybe we'll splurge this time and get a really nice one.

~ new clothes if it's a girl
~ i found this thing that we can attach our infant car seat to that will make it into a swing. we never had a swing with DS, but i can't imagine that i'll be carrying this one around quite as much as i did DS, so a swing is on the maybe list http://www.graco.net/e/item.asp?code=8152&s=0950JFA
~ a big boy bed for DS (we're going to start encouraging him to start to sleep on his own at least part-time this summer
~ a second high chair or booster seat
~ a new sling or two
~ a second dresser
~ a new nursing pillow (i made mine with DS but want to treat myself this time! lol)

it's nice doing this the second time, because you don't have to purchase so many things, that you can kinda splurge on the few things you need! hee hee!

We'll be getting new stuff for DD instead. A bigger car seat so the baby can have the old one, a new bed so the baby can have the crib.

I SO agree! Of course, with our second, we needed all the cloth diapers and such, but with this one, we're well on our way with dipes and have most everything else we really need. It's nice to be able to invest in some of the other things, instead.

well we might need another glider if DD is still nursing...and I would like a Moses basket so I can put this babe down somewhere soft (well if I am allowed to put it down...DD would have NONE of that ) and maybe another sling, just to have a fun new pattern

This is my third baby. I am starting over with a lot of things though. We had a garage sale this summer that I sold some things I will need to replace. I am going to need an infant of convertible car seat for the new baby. I am also getting a Moby for the new baby. I will need to get a lot of new baby clothes too. Oh, and diapers. In a lot of ways I feel like I am starting over in terms of the baby stuff. Its nice though. I am looking forward to picking out a new infant car seat. There are some really nice ones out there.

We need:
Clothes if it's a girl
infant carseat
small daipers. I gave mine away to a friend.
maybe a dresser or something to hold clothes.

This will be the youngest of many cousins, boys and girls, so hopefully we will get a lot of hand-me-downs!

Yes - make sure you have a tube of Lansinoh handy. I was SO grateful for it when my bbs started to crack and bleed. Ugh.

Oh, and we did have a baby tub, but found it easier just to take a bath with dd. She liked it better that way, too.

You can also get a little cot like thing that sits between you and dh in the bed and is high enough that you can't roll over on baby or anything like that, if that is your dh's concern. We got ours at Target for about $39 - a lot cheaper than the sidecars!

As for us, it depends on whether we are having a girl or boy - if it is a girl, we are set, but for a boy we will need some clothes. Also, I want some more diapers - doing them every two days is fine with one kid, but NOT with two! And I am going to treat myself to a new diaper bag. The one I was given was not the one I wanted, and, it sounds petty, but I really don't like it and I want a new one. Hmph. I think that is about it. I would love an Ergo, but I don't think that is happening unless the baby fairy brings me one - they are pretty spendy...

Thanks! I guess I might have to look into a vegan version of Lansinoh, though. Does anybody know of any?
As for the cot thing, I'm really interested. DH's concern is smothering/squishing. Could you try to describe it a bit more? Also, do you think it'd fit in a double bed and still fit the two of us? That's what we've got right now, but I know we'll need a bigger bed soon. Thanks so much!
