I'm getting some prefolds dyed in a bright rainbow of colors. I think I remember reading somewhere that if they sit in the pail too long against other wet diapers they can bleed (even if you've washed them and made sure all the excess dye was out). Is this true? I don't want to have to do 2 pails!

I'm getting them from Sunflower Derrieres, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

My dyed prefolds are from BumWrap Diapers , and I've never had a problem with bleeding. I always dump the dyed ones right in the pail with all the other undyed ones. Sometimes mine are pretty soppy too, like if I've just sprayed it off with the Minishower.

I would ask the WAHM. I always advised my customers to wash their dyed items until *their* water ran clear, because I have very hard water. I put everything in the same pail because I'm lazy lol, but I've had bleeding occur (from multiple brands), so it can happen. Rule of thumb- always wash/pail dyed items seperately if you want to avoid any possible bleeding.

I did mine myself, and actually n ever thought about it. I kept them separate from the time I did them and then threw them in a wash as soon as it was full. So they were separated from when I dyed them, went right through a diaper wash, and I honestly never thought about it after that. However, my rinsing process after the dying was pretty extensive
I don't remember the water running totally clear, just mostly clear.

I use fuzzi bunz (fleece) and inserts, so I don't care if it got on the inserts, so maybe I didn't notice?

I am planning on washing them separately a couple of times when I receive them. I have some cheap white washcloths (which I use for cleaning) so I will throw a couple of those in there too to make sure there's no bleeding. I was mainly wondering about later on, once I know they aren't bleeding in the wash, if they could possibly bleed in the pail from sitting there for a couple of days, KWIM?
