i don't know. i have an inguinal hernia that was repaired via laproscopy and mesh 13 years prior to having my hb. i realize you are talking about a newly diagnosed (maybe diagnosed) one, though. i imagine it all depends on where the hernia is, and how it would be affected by pushing. i mean, i suppose you could "labor down" your baby (letting the contractions bring the baby far down into the pelvis without pushing) once you are completely dilated, in an effort to minimize the stress on your body from pushing. i'm not totally sure on this one, though. really, i'm just guessing.

Yes, Well I've never been a "pusher". I have 3 children already and only pushed once or twice each time and they were out.

I never had to do that deal you see on tv where they are holding your legs and counting with you making you push. I guess My body has always done it on its on its own.

Although one of those was natural and they were all in a hospital.

So I guess thats' a good sign.

doesn't sound like a problem to me, but I wouldn't recommend keeping that info from your mw. Maybe get a second opinion on it - and what the risk factors are - from a gp.

I think that any health concern should be up-front with your mw in an hb, so she'll be totally prepared. Your health and welfare are dependent on it. In hb, you're much more responsible for your own decisions, but at the same time, your mw is a partner in it, and if you're keeping a secret about a health issue ............

On one of my birth lists there was a mom who had some sort of hernia...but it wasn't the groin hernia (inguinal).

So, is it your chiropractor who *thinks you have one* or do you agree with him. Have you been having problems in that location?

Well I mentioned the spot to him ...

It is pretty much equal to or a little beneath my left ribcage. I thought it was actually my ribs when I complained about it to him.

Its been slightly achy for about 5 months now, since before I ever even began to show with the pregnancy but a few months into the actual pregnancy.

It doesn't hurt just aches all the time, and my last job was VERY physically demanding(like moving furniture and extremely heavy boxes).

He touched everything with his hands and decided that is was NOT the actual bones and since it is on the left side he said that your stomach is actually on your left side and that it must be a hernia.

That was about the extent of the conversation.

Its just an uncomfortableness, no pain I guess. I have decided to not pick up any children or anything heavy until after the birth so that may help. But I guess I should tell the midwife at least.

I have to admit I have NOT "taken it easy" this pregnancy. I have 3 kids and I nanny for 3 kids when mine are in school. I pull them in bike trailers through the park, I went hiking in the mountains 2 weekends ago and wake up very early every morning 5:30-6:00.
(Im 8 months pregnant)

It is MOST uncomfortable when I am driving for long periods of time.
