I was just reading a thread about medicating fevers....I have to say I was a little surprised to read that all the responses use some sort of medical releif ir Tylonol....<br><br>
I just wonder if any of you use homeopathy first or for all remedies, it is something I came to fairly recently and I am still learing about but it is a great alternative to chemical medications....especially for teething (Camamilla) there are loads of great website, one of my favourites is...<br><br><a href="http://www.abchomeopathy.com" target="_blank">www.abchomeopathy.com</a><br><br><br>

I use it more or less exclusively, I am lucky DD has not needed anything else but would use allopathic meds if I HAD to. I just feel its better to use homeopathy where possible as it puts the body back in balance and leaves it stronger that before. I am also a homeopathic vet so use it in my practice and it really is a wonderful system of medicine. I do see an ND who uses it too though when I need to for me or DD.

I use it sometimes, for some things. For other things, I'm pretty old-school and just take/apply/use the mainstream, conventional medicine or remedy. I guess it depends on my experience with that particular malady, or who's suffering it. For DS I tend more toward homeopathy (I agree the Chamomilla is good stuff), or at least try it first, but don't hesitate to use Motrin if it seems warranted. For myself, I've had GREAT results from some homeopathic digestive tabs for upset stomach, so they're the first thing I turn to. I would like to use more homeopathic remedies. I usually start with homeopathy. Our whole family sees a classical homeopath, but we also occasionally see a family medical doctor as well.

We pretty much only use homeopathy. My dd with autism is being treated by a homeopath and I have one that I call if one of the rest of us is sick (or I use my books and figure it out myself). It is helpful to have a book to look at at home for treating your family. I voted "Yes, try it first....", and that's certainly evolved over the last three years of being a Mama. When DD #1 was a baby, we used motrin for teething ~ not all the time, but when she seemed really uncomfortable. With DD #2, we are using Hylands and they work wonderfully. I am trying to avoid tylenol/motrin as much as possible, and for fevers & the like we monitor rather than give fever-reducing subtances. My mother is a "classically trained" homeopath and she keeps sending us remedies and info about them, so yes, we use them because they are readily available. It's always hard to tell what's working and what's not, though. DS has been really very healthy thus far so we have only tried a few things, but so far, and maybe it's the homeopathic remedies that are doing the trick, he has gotten over all of his ails very fast. Certainly it doesn't seem like the homeopathic remedies can hurt, and I feel much better about them than the over the counter meds that contain sugars, artificial colors, artificial flavors, etc...

yes! we use it first before anything else.. its almost always effective. i use it for bumps and bruises.. ued it for labour and healing after... for teething and colic.. for sleeplessness, fever, colds, coughs, vomiting, depression, morning sickness.. you name it there is a cure.. i just have a little bag with all of the remedies and i take it everywhere.. we also use rescue remedy a lot..

I always try homeopathic or Bach Flower Remedies first. Bach's Walnut is great for teething. I like the book "Medicine Moms" I think written by Arlene Uhl or something like that. Very down to earth with specific, practical advice about homeopathy. It seems like everything DD gets responds to Pulsatilla -- so whenever I think she is coming down with something I dose her right away and can often nip it in the bud. Each person responds differently to each remedy, so often it is trial and error.

we're mainstream for colds & congestion as well as fevers. for teething & restlessness/sleeplessness, we use homeopathic. i'm learning more about it gradually & might start using more homeopathics as i go on.

Definitely - homeopathy is amazing. I haven't had to take the kids to the doctor much, but the few times they have been sick they've gone to a homeopath and he really helped.<br><br>
I always try homeopathics first, and sometimes I hit upon the right one and notice a huge improvement. When I can't get it right myself and the kids really need something we go to the homeopath. I do find colds tricky as far as choosing the correct remedy though (in which case we resort to Tylenol).
