I had several people ask me that the first time, so I spend a couple hours in Target registering for a bunch of stuff. Ended up that one person bought one thing off my list and other people were like "she registered for baby stuff" like it was weird or something, even though I only did it because others asked.

I woudn't worry about it too much, they probably just want to know what you need and a registry is a good way to find out. I have bought off of other people's baby registries and it really helps because that way you know you won't be on of the 25 people buying blankets or a bunch of stuff they don't need.

Baby #2 for me, no one is asking, so no worries here yet.

..yeah basically with baby #6 people don't even send cards...

(why do you think I signed up for the cyber babyshower??) hahahahhaaaa!

..not only that, being brought up in the sticks of Vermont with depression era parents we don't do things like register..I'm lucky my Mom can use a portable phone.

I've had this question, and went ahead and told people who asked.

My sister's throwing us a party ("pre-baby" rather than shower) and did a really great job of wording it to let people know we'd inherited a bunch of baby stuff etc.

Thanks, you all. I don't want to seem ungrateful. My shower is next week, and I notice not one thing has been purchased from the shower list. I'm worried we'll get 10,000 onesies, which I def don't need! This baby already has more clothes than I do!

Nobody has asked. Then again, there are two camps- those who don't approve and have shunned all of us {our former church and it's members} and those who have accepted that this is our life and we'll handle it how we choose.. the latter will either get whatever they want anyways, or figure that after two other girls, i have all I need or will ask... which is good, because with both girls I got a ton of stuff I wouldn't use and wouldn't donate [bottle propping devices, Pearl books, etc] I'd rather get stuff on my own, and know it's going to be put to use...

It made me a bit uncomfortable with my ds, but we did it anyway. We really wanted special things that aren;t found in department stores like babies r us. I think maybe some people found it tacky, but others were grateful that we registered. It is kind of like a wedding- it give you some direction. When I get nvited to a shower I buy off the person's registry and then if I can't help myself I buy something small that I think they might like. The large part of the gift is from the registry though. It just makes sense. I hate wasting money- I am kind of a tightwad!!
