I got to play with a Aibo (Sony's robotic dog). It was interesting but not enough to keep my attention for more than a few hours. Real dogs are much more interesting.

My dd has a nintendo DS and has the game, "Dogz" for it. Its neat. You pick who you are, (boy or girl) then you go pick your dog. Granted, you pick your dog from a pet shop, I would prefer it was a shelter or reputable breeder,
Anyhoo, you have to train, walk, love, feed your dog. You take it for its vaccinations. After 30 days of keeping your dog alive and healthy, you can add to your doggie family. Its a cool game.
I've heard the Nintendo DS also has breed specific games, "Chi's" or "Labs" and you do the same with those, except the game is the dog. You can set it to bark if theres another "dog" player in your area.

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...32&catid=22020
