Just wondering, I've searched past threads for those who were trying to find AP minded home daycare for their little one and seen two with no responses.

DH and I may need to find pt home daycare so he can spend more time on his business and we really rather not put DD in daycare center and would love to find AP minded caregiver.

I am an AP minded caregiver, but I only do part time care and am not taking anymore clients. You may want to consider contacting your local Attachment Parenting International or Holistic Moms Network groups. There may be moms there that would be interested in making some extra cash while providing playmates for their own children. Good Luck!

Where are you located? I know a mom/caregiver in the NW side of Chicago. She's an AP mom.

I think it also depends on what you specifically mean by an "AP" caregiver? My kids caregiver is awesome, knowledgeable of BFing (BF'd all 4 of her own children), kids are never left to cry, they are carried a lot, treated with respect and kindness... but she doesn't know the term "AP".

You know?

I second the recommendation to get in touch with some APish groups - API, Holistic Moms, and also you might be able to find someone through an LLL group. In the group I used to be involved with, there was a mom of two who watched two other kids in her home during the week.

Also, if you want to be more specific about the suburban area you are in, someone here might see the post and either be an option for you or know someone who could be.

I'm located in the NW Burbs by the Executive Airport (formerly Palwaukee) and I'm looking for someone like your caregiver!

Guess I should'nt have phrased it AP per se, as we're not fully practicing AP ourselves. The thought of finding a caregiver is a bit nervous for me as a first time parent and I really want to find someone who is similar minded to us in the care of children.

But mainly that kids are never left to cry, carried when needed and specifically treated with respect and kindness. We also CD and I'm hopeful to find someone who is willing to work with that, but if not that's ok too we're flexible and adaptable.

Sorry to say I'm in Berwyn and my caregiver is in Oak Park so I'm not going to be much help there!

It is a terrifying thing- to find someone you trust with your kids- I totally understand.

Is there a group that does daycare referrals by you? We have a west suburban daycare association...

Start calling people you hear about...

I would put together a list of questions and make sure they have a helper who can step in if something happens to the primary. I called about 3 references. The first reference I talked to for about 45 minutes. The fact that they had all 3 of their kids with her and that this was a woman I could relate to-- made my decision easy.

I think I called about 20 people. I eliminated most of them with the first phone call. I visited about 6 places.

I called one woman who sounded perfect but she was going on maternity leave herself and that wouldn't work but she recommended who we are using now.

I don't know anyone who does the CD thing. We CD at home but use sposies at daycare.

I think that in IL, licensed daycares may have some restrictions on CD. I think they have to use a clean new cover for each diaper, or use pockets or AIOs. I remember getting this impression when I read the IL licensing requirements a long time ago when I was looking for daycare for our son.

As for finding someone licensed, here is a link...you can put in your county, and get in touch with the referral service for your area:

http://www.inccrra.org/parentsandpublic.aspx?id=407

They can send you a list...I think it was around $12. Or some of them have online databases now. Then you can start calling the daycares listed and asking the questions you want to ask.
