Ok, so this is making me
: I honestly think both my girls are affected by the full moon. I know it's not full until Wednesday but I've been noticing a pattern where it appears that the 3 days prior to the full moon are the worst. My 6 month old normally tanks right up at night and then sleeps from 8:30 until 7:30 (Yes I know how extremely luck we are! Her sister was not like that until 2 yrs) and my 3 year old sleeps from 9:30 until 8ish. Last night both girls were up 3 seperate times. Consequently, the baby is eating all of the milk I've pumped (long story but we are only pumping now
but that another story) so we are running out of milk, I'm exhausted, their naps are all monkey-ed up and the 3 year old is waking up crying and I can't comfort her......

Usually by the actual full moon they have both settled back down.

So what I'm wondering is if anyone else has noticed the moon having any affect on thier kid's sleep? Oh I should mention that it takes 3 times as long to GET them to sleep as well.

Any ideas on how to help them on these trying days?

Please tell me I'm not alone.....

Could your youngest be going through a growth spurt? You may just need to pump more..

As for the moon, yes, if affects the ocean, which is water....what is OUR bodies mostly made of..water..of course it can affect us. You should be in the Emergency Room at the hospital on a full moon.

My youngest wakes up more..I wake up more..may be take them outside to see the moon..it always calms my youngest.

Hmm... I've never thought about checking the time of the month with when my DD has trouble sleeping...

I know that the light of the moon used to really dictate women's cycles. It has to do with the light and I've heard of women who have to even cover their clocks because any amount of light will throw off their cycles.

While it doesn't work perfectly, we've found that our son has "bad" sleep nights before the full moon. They are usually a week to 3 days before the full moon, and he's fine by the time it's actually full. We've joked that by the time the moon gets full he's so tired he'll sleep through anything.

It's nice to hear that my husband and I are not the only crazy ones who have noticed this!

Yes I believe the full moon affects people in general....I have noticed when I was working that I would always have terrible days when it was a full moon...and i wouldn't realize it until I checked...plus I worked as a teacher..and could tell a full moon by their behavior.. :>

The crime rate also goes up around full moon.
I also get affected by it (but I tend to go a bit "inward")
I guess the best plan for your kids might just to be aware of it and steel yourself for the coming madness!

For us it's the new moon! My daughter slept a straight seven hours two nights ago, for the first time EVER in her 2.5 years of existence and I was so excited but then checked the moon and lo and behold, it's new. She always sleeps soundly on new moon nights, and interestingly, my cycles are in sync with the moons, more or less, but backwards, ovulating with the full moon and getting my period on the new moon.

How do I replicate the effects of the new moon every night?? I felt SO good!! This is a kid who generally still wakes every two hours to be nursed back to sleep.
