I found out my baby died a few weeks ago, i was about 10 weeks or so and have been inpatiently waiting, hoping for the natural process. I have had 3 D & C's and was REALLY hoping to avoid that again.

Well, Friday I started spotting. I spotted on and off for a few days and really felt like NOTHING was happening.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I started lightly bleeding more regularly. By last night I started passing clots. They started out about the size of a cellphone and got bigger. I did not have the labor-type contrations I had with the last m/c that started at home. But very bad cramping. Heating pad helped. I would get the major cramp/minor contractions and would go to the bathroom and be passing another clot. MOstly painless, just a lot to handle for someone with a weak stomach like myself.

I sent my DH to work this morning cause again seemed like light bleeding and light cramping. But by 9 o clock I had to call m father over in an emergency cause i was home alone with the kids and started to feel as if I was going to pass out. I was oh-so-close to going out when he arrived....I came back to normal with the sweats etc....and just laid in bed. My DH finally made it home from work and I can rest.

I am still having cramping, passing clots when I get up and just feel overall weak.

Is this "passing out" thing any kind of sign that I am near the end? Anything like transition or something? It's been over 2 hrs since that happened? How will I know? I can't have my DH staying home from work unnecessarily....I feel so ridiculously helpless.

In my experience it doesn't mean anything other than alot of blood loss, and i would suggest having someone take you to emerg...

My situation was just like yours, a natural m/c at 10w, but baby had been "gone" for several weeks. The large clots and type of bleeding you describe is exactly what I experienced. However, at no point did I feel weak or faint, so I agree with both pp that it's not a sign of anything but significant blood loss.

I definitely noticed a lot of blood loss in the toilet this morning a while before this happened.

I have eaten, rested and feel pretty good.

I am lightly bleeding with occassional small clots. but nothing like last nt or this morning.

I am so unsure of when it is over and whether i will keep bleeding a lot later on. :( i really cant say that i identified any placenta ?? altough I passed things that I thought might be big enough to be ??? would it look very bloody, or would you know right away by a grayish color, etc?

Sorry as far as what to look for i can't help; i lost ALOT of blood in a very short about of time and ended up in emerg and 24hrs later had a Emergency D&C...but prior to that i just bled alot and passed massive clots but no placenta or babies (twin pregnancy)

I think it's impossible to say for sure if it's over. I definitely passed so many large red clots that I thought for sure the sac was among them. My bleeding had almost stopped, and I'd had no cramping for two days. Then I had a follow-up u/s, and the OB saw the sac lodged at the opening of the cervix. He was able to pull it out without any trouble. Here I'd felt totally fine for days and was sure everything was out.

Also, in my case the sac was the very last thing to let go. I miscarried on a Saturday night, felt great all day Sunday with minor bleeding, and then Sunday evening and Monday morning had some very strange crampiness, and saw a very small clot that was whitish. That was the last of the cramping, and then on Wednesday my OB found the sac. I'm pretty sure that cramping 24 hours after all the bleeding and clots was my body finally getting the sac loose, even though it got stuck at the top of the cervix.

I'm probably an unusual case, but I'm definitely a believer in a follow-up u/s now! Are you planning to get a final scan?

My mw didn't mention a final scan, only follow up hcg levels. BUT I've been thinking of pushing for one. It's quick and easy and will let me know for sure that everything is clear. Last time (my 3rd mc) my body couldn't pass everything and just kept holding on after 2 days of hard laboring....I fear that end result again,so I will ask.

Thank you for your input ladies. It is such a scary road. I am cramping a bit again tonight but only lightly bleeding. Sending DH back to work in the morning and hoping for no sudden surprises.

ALSO: As far as losing so much/too much blood. All of the recommendations are "if you soak a pad every xx minutes"...but I find myself in the bathroom when so much of the bleeding happens....it's so hard to tell. This morning I actually took a double-take in the toilet thinking "that looks like a whole lot of blood"...but then figured I was being over-dramatic. :(
