I'm trying to find ways to make our night time better. 2 days ago ds slept for 7 hours in a row! Last night it was only about 5 hours.....

So, I'm thinking I need to teach him how to get back to sleep on his own and even put himself to sleep initially. The problem is that at night I have no patience or desire to do anything and ds lacks the patience as well. All we both want to do is get back to bed!

My plan is to work on naptime. I'll try and do the "teaching" when we are both prepared and just hope it carries over to nights.

Do you think it'll work?? (I'm really avoiding nightweaning...I'm jsut too lazy )

I have never nightweaned, I am too lazy too!

But from reading here, it seems like it only works if you are not too lazy. You read post from people who are like " I can't do this any more. I am not nusing at night any longer. I can't go on." And then a week or so later you read thier post about how they had a couple hard nights and now a week later he hardly wakes at all.

I think that they both know this is the end and that kid can tell mom is serious and that is often all it takes. But as long as mom is not dedicated to nightweaning then it can be months of weaning, not weaning and lots of stress about nighttime.

Based on this, I think it won't work. You aren't dedicated enough!

Do you lay down with him for naps? If so, the situation is similar to nighttime and might work.

Even if it's not a complete success, your efforts probably won't be in vain and if you're not sacrificing your nighttime sleep, you won't regret the effort as much.

Good luck!
