In browsing this forum, I feel like I might be overreacting to ds's symptoms but I figure if anyone could help someone here could...
I have sensitivities to corn, citrus, and chicken. Meaning, I guess, if I am sparing with any of these I feel okay, but if I overdo, I have wicked headaches and gastric trouble. When I was pregnant with ds#1, following this way of eating (and I do mostly avoid altogether, but corn can be difficult) gave me no trouble, and ds#1 has no allergies at nearly 4yrs. During my pregnancy with ds#2, eating the slightest amount of any of these things gave me headaches, so I avoided completely. Ds is now 8 months and has been a restless sleeper since he was born. He has been exclusively breastfed, and has always seemed excessively gassy. He seems to pass it well enough during the day, but at night, although rarely inconsolable, often doesn't seem to be able to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Some nights are better than others...I gave up dairy for two weeks without change, I have avoided my triggers (but ashamed to say I am not RIGOROUS), but nothing is giving me a clear message of an allergy one way or another. The real POINT of the long-winded thread is, however, about introducing solids. I read the "intro solids" sticky and can see that I started with the "wrong" or at least more complicated things, as I started with brown rice cereal, bananas, and apples, but in your opinion, could just gassiness be a sign of an allergy? I mean, the nights are HELL, but wouldn't I see signs during the day? Does someone out there have an idea? I am getting nowhere with my ped, and I have a call in to a ND, but at the same time, I don't want to go down this hairy allegy ID road if I don't have to...

how old is your ds?
is the gassiness consistant or do you notice if there are days or nights when its better or worse (trying to see if something in your diet could be triggering it)?
There could be something in your diet (egg, soy, dairy, nuts etc) that your DS is sensitive to.....or he could just be like my son who was gassy every evening for a couple hours...but it eventually went away on its own
