My son (six months old) loves to put blankets over his head and just lay there. When I lift up the blanket, or towel, or prefold, or whatever he put over his head, he is just laying there with a serene look on his face.

Have any of you guys ever experienced this?

He is doing this right now. He does it all the time. I'm just wondering how common this is.

My dd loves to sleep with blankets on her head - she always has (she's 18 mos now) - it bugged/worried me at first, but now I just accept it

My last one started out requiring her face to be covered while she was BF... and it progressed to where now she has to have it covered whenever she sleeps... they do weird things, huh? LOL!

yes, my 4 month old loves to do it with prefolds. he pulls them off on off on and eventually leaves it on his face, whether he means to or not. i know he doesn't have a whole lot of control over it right now, but i swear he thinks it's hilarious!

Dd doesn't do this. She will grab anything in sight and play peekaboo with you, though (including the shirt you're currently wearing)!

I think it sounds cute.

Yes! My dd does this all the time, with her bib or burb rag or blanket. She's so funny...a lot of time, if I take it off, her eyes are shut. We joke that she's like a bird...if you cover her cage, she thinks it's sleepytime.

When DS was really young, we started playing peekaboo while I was making the bed in the morning. I'd parachute the sheet over him and say, "Where'd M go?" then pull it off his face and he'd smile and giggle. We'd do this over and over again.

Then, at about 5 1/2 months, he started doing it himself! I'd turn away and look back at him in his cosleeper and he'd pulled the blanket over his head. I'd go through my exclamations and he'd practically quiver with excitement until I pulled off and say, "There he is!" Now he'll do it with his bib or a prefold or anything!

He also went through a stage where he would pull the blanket over his face while he napped. It's a very loosely crocheted blanket, so I didn't worry. He'd also thread his fingers through the holes in the crochet. It was the cutest thing!

ETA: I found a pic! http://zuzu822.shutterfly.com/action/

Funny little things, they are!

My dd is the opposite. She freaks out when anything covers any part of her face. I love how even so young they have distinct likes/dislikes. It's so fun to see their own unique personality!

mine doesn't do it all the time or anything, but he does this on occasion... and it's just as you described. he'll just lay there with (whatever) pulled over his head and when i remove it, he's just so serene! i never gave it too much thought. ds has lots of calm and serene moments. my favorite is when i put him in the tub with me... we get in as soon as i start the water and while it's filling up he'll lay back on me so calm and peaceful and sometimes even close his eyes in relaxation. he also does this when i stroke his face very gentley.

I have to take the pillows off the bed because ds will pull them, and/or blankets over his face. He definitely doesn't lay there serenely though. He kicks and squeals.

My DS has always slept with a blanket over his face (ever since we started giving him blankets)

He's 5 now, and still covers his head to sleep.
