WE go to the park a lot and every now and then a kid is told he can go in but he can not take off his socks. CAn you exaplain this to me? I have no idea why socks would stay on. I desperately want to ask the mom but I know I will come off sounding snarky but I really don't get why you'd rather have to clean socks than feet. Give me hint!

hummm...good question... my kids do sometimes but on their own... i dont care either way..

but it could be the child has sensory issues and the sand in the toes is a major problem... if there are little bugs etc in the sand it would be harder for a bug to bite thru the sock... socks also provide a bit of barrier against stubbed toes etc...

now that i think about it id probably prefer my kids didnt go totally barefoot at the park... socks seem like a happy medium...

good luck i just wish it wasnt so dang hot here and we COULD go to the park

my guess would be for sanitary reasons. public sandboxes around here are generally not covered at all and cats use them for litter boxes.. eww..

we have our own sandbox that gets covered each night even though I've never seen a cat in our fenced yard.

Most likely sanitary reasons. Public sandboxes are GROSS. There have been studies done where sandboxes were tested and some of the stuff that's in most public ones are just so nasty. Feces being one.
I try not to let ds play in public sandboxes.
I've personally found these in local public sandboxes:
*broken glass
*razor blade
*used condom
*needle (most likely for drug use)
*poop (cat? and bird like poop)
*food
*dead bird
*dirty diaper
*used tampon

And I live in a nice area!!!
