I need help. Daisy is a 2yr old Westie. She's always been an excited pee-er, but with a lot of patience we've worked through it and she rarely has excited pees anymore.

However, she has always peed in her sleep. We thought it was something that she'd grow out of and for a while, she seemed to. However, the last few months have gotten worse.

We've taken her to the vet, everything looks good. We've had her on DES every 3 days for a couple months now. It's not helping. Yesterday, I swear that every time she fell asleep she peed.

Both dogs go out as soon as they get up in the morning, several times during the day, and one last time before they go to bed. We don't give them water after their last outing. It's a coin toss whether she pees in bed or not.

I know we can move on to hormones, but was wondering if anyone has actually had any success.
We've tried keeping her out of bed but it kills me. I think we've made it three nights in a row once. We bought a waterproof pad for the bed, but I can't keep waking up in pee. She's completely ruined our couch. I'm just really frustrated right now.

What dosage of DES did you use? My dog needed to take it twice a week, FWIW, even though the vet said weekly usually is enough. Also, DES *is* a hormone...it's synthetic estrogen. Anyway, after about a year we started tapering her off the DES, and now she only gets in weekly and is fine.

Our male dog had incontinence issues for a while too, and he did well on phenylpropanolamine.

What kind of food is the dog on? Our older dog had peeing in the sleep issues for a while. I noticed that if she got fed too much food she'd do it. Since we put her on a mostly raw diet she no longer pees in her sleep.

I had a dog who peed in her sleep.

Phenylpropanolamine fixed it. We started with the recommended dosage & gradually worked back. She started again at a quarter dose, so we settled on half.

Good luck!
