I'm hoping someone can give some advice. I have an OTSBH that I've had since my first child; I'm on my 3rd now. I love it, it's wonderful when we're out and about, taking walks, shopping, etc. But ... how am I honestly supposed to do housework with my ds in it? I almost completely lose the use of my right arm due to the fabric; I can't even lift the arm more than halfway. Is this normal? I've always assumed it was, but as I read about women doing housework in their slings I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong. I can do little things, but mostly if he's in the sling I just pace the house - there isn't anything else I can accomplish effectively. Am I possibly wearing the sling incorrectly?

Thanks!!

I have a New Native, which I think is very similar to OTSBH. Yes, you can't use the arm that it rests on very well. So, I can do things like vacuum and water plants but no way can I scrub the tub! We got this sling first and I ended up dusting only the things that were between my waist level and my shoulders.
I like my New Native because it fits well in the diaper bag so I use it for things like going grocery shopping and other times that I need it quickly.

At home, while doing housework, I prefer my wrap. I can lean forward when she's in it (facing out or in, on my front) so I can do things like make beds and crawl around picking up toys. She loves to watch me vacuum in it (go figure). Eventually I need to figure out how to get her on my back and I'll be even more productive. (cooking! dishes! oh joy!!)

I second the PPs. I love our sling for the 'poppability' factor when out and about, but at home to get stuff done I'm all about the wrap (just a SPoC I trimmed down to size), and I have a MT on the way.

I find it's easier to move that arm if I have baby on my hip, rather than in front. I have done quite a bit of housework using a sling, but I don't have to do a lot of high up type stuff. I can do some dishes, laundry, picking up, vacuuming, etc. It all just takes longer.

I do agree, though, that the MT is better for housework.
