well my dd is 4 1/2 mo. dh and i had a little bit of an oops in jan and well my period is over a week late. i took a test yesterday morning and at first i thought it was negitive but ur supposed to wait like 3 mins. i didnt i just wait til the control turned.then i threw it away but i got curious and looked at it again a little while later. 2 lines! there were two lines! yeah the test line was a liitle faint but so was the one that i used with dd. could it be wrong?
dd isnt even 5 mo and im pg AGAIN! it hard for me to wrap my head around it. i know missed being pg but to actually be pg i don't know. its not just a romantic fantacy any more its very scary reality. two small ones at the ame time? and we're still living with ny in-laws right now. im so freakin out. could it be wrong? could i be wrong? one time w/o protection. . im so scared. i mean i will love this babe just as much as dd but im scared and wish it werent right now. and that makes me feel bad. wishing i werent if i am makes me feel terrible!

I would retest tomorrow, and hope for the best result for you and your family. It is hard, but totally surrvivable and after the shock and hard parts even fun.

How much time had passed between when you threw it in the trash and you looked again? I thought you could get false readings after a certain amount of time.....

I would test again. Dollar Tree tests are accurate but they are more likely to have evaporation lines because the test window is not covered by plastic.

From my understanding, "false positives" are super rare.... IMHO, I'm thinking the fact that you checked back in just 15 minutes and saw 2 lines means it's a positive.

Here's an interesting website w/ a photo gallery of Dollar Tree positives that you can use to compare w/ yours: PeeOnAStick.com

Okay, I'm totally admitting that I'm a freak by posting this , but here is a pic of my own Dollar Tree tests ....as you can see, my first few tests were so light, I questioned whether or not they were actually positives. As the days went on, the test line got a little bit more visible every time.

HTH! Take care and hugs to you, momma! Whatever the outcome, I wish you the very best!!

In my experience, dollar tree stores were the most accurate. I tried clearblue easy, first response and dollar tree and dollar tree was the only one to pick up the hormone before the day after my missed period. And it was a very faint line that I almost dismissed!

You're not supposed to read them after the 3 minutes (per the directions)...it could be an evaporation line. Try the test again and sit and wait for the line to show.

I really have nothing good to say about the Dollar Tree tests. I got two, took the first one in the evening 3 days after my missed period, got a line so faint that I wasn't even sure it was a line, but knew that usually any line is a positive. (But it was pretty much unseeable unless you looked at it just right under the right light). So I figured I'd test the next morning when the hcg should be higher. Got a negative. A few days later dh went out and got me a First Response and I got a dark line in the test window before the urine even got to the control window. I'm due Sept 4. Never again will I waste my money on the dollar tree tests. Go spend the money on a first response or something similar and know for sure.

If it was past 3 minutes it was probably an evaporation line.

I beg to differ on the 3 minute rule.

I have peed on literally a hundred or more of these tests in our years of TTC.

The instructions say that a positive test result may show up within 3 minutes but that any result within a 10 minute window is valid.

15 minutes is still on the outside of that obviously and could be an evaporation line but the only time I have ever seen an evap on these tests is when the test has sat for more than an hour.

I hope you get the result you want.

I would definitely test again in the morning. The last time I took a $ Tree test I didn't read it until 10-15 minutes later and there was a very, very faint line. That "faint line" is now 6 months old and playing on the floor with her brother.

I concur...you're not supposed to read BEFORE 3 min and AFTER 10 min. 15 min is close...I wouldn't think it's an evap, but you should test again tomorrow morning to be sure. Better yet, use a digital...those are SUPER clear.

My $Tree test experience:

Took a test before going to a party because I wanted to drink but not if I was pg. It was negative. Hours later, after the party, something made me go back and look at the test. There was a very faint line. I know you're not supposed to read them after that long so I took another one the next day. Positive, very faint line. I thought, hmmm.... maybe these are just cheap-o dollar store tests. I'll test again. Faint positive again.

Here's a really bad picture of my last two tests: http://maland.smugmug.com/photos/26768224-M-1.jpg

My faint positive will be 11 months old in a few days.

If you are pregnant, congratulations! At least you'll have nine months to get used to the idea of having two kids pretty close together. Good luck!

feel free to pm me anytime, i know what you're going through.

i would retest tomorrow. maybe you're not pregnant. my cousin took a test that was negative and threw it away (but i think she did wait 3 min) and looked later and it was positive, but she wasn't pregnant. i think after they sit long enough, the reading can show a false positive.

I've used Dollar Tree Tests--I think within 15 min...it probably is a correct reading of positive. I tested this time with one and got a very faint line so I wasn't sure...the next day the line was a little darker (within probably 5-10 min). That afternoon I used a FRER and got an immediate positive that was easily seen--not super dark or light. I hope you get an definate answer either way. (((HUGS)))

I used Dollar Tree tests and had negatives though I squinted at them for a while. Came back and found a second line but outside of the 10 minutes. It only became darker over time. For three days this happened. I think it was just an evap line or I had a chem pg. I can't know for sure but 15 minutes is outside of the time that the results are considered reliable so if nothing else you need to test again tomorrow and make sure you look at it before 10 minutes are up.

I was a personal fan of the dollar tree tests. The only thing is that you can not pursue the test out of the trash once the 10 minute mark has hit. They have HORRIBLE evaporation lines!! The worst $1 tests I ever got were from dollar general. I got pink evaporation lines from the very beginning with them.

Last year, I was in the same boat as you. My DS was only 4 months old and my DD wasn't even 2 1/2 yet when we accidently conceived another. I freaked as well, but my story was a sad story. It was a missed m/c and had to get a D&C. I'm not a very religious person, but I do believe that some things are meant to be, and God will only giive you what you can handle.

About those tests...with my current pg, I took a clearblue digital. It read pregnant. Took a walmart equate brand...dark positive. Took a dollar tree test...positve. Took a First response...NEGATIVE. Went to the clinic...their's was negative. So the dollar tree brand is sensitive, I think 20ml.

stop and get yourself a couple more hpts. you don't have to use FMU. Just restrict your fluid intake for a bit and don't go pee for a couple hours

good luck
