I am making my daughter a dollhouse out of small cardboard boxes for Christmas. It's turning out really well; scrapbook paper for wallpaper, etc. However, I do not have any "people" for it yet, I'm wondering if anybody has any simple ideas how to make some or where to purchase some that aren't outrageously expensive. Thanks so much!!!

You could make clothespin people or wood peg people. If you search those two things you'll find lots of examples.I've heard people have had luck finding blanks at the dollar store.

Or you could buy an inexpensive bendy family.I bought this one because it was less expensive than buying bendy blanks and I couldn't afford the higher quality dolls.

Good luck! The doll house sounds great!

If you don't need them to stand up, you could make Mavor's Felt Wee Folk dolls:

I wonder how one could improvise feet? Maybe a piece of cork?

I have Mavor's book but not the time (yet) to really go to town with this idea.

I did something like this with my children, but not as elaborate or sturdy:

ETA we also have the exact bendy family linked in the post above. They don't have the same balance as our Plan Toys people, but they are otherwise exactly the same, I find.

the turnings here are really nice! (and cheap!)

i think it would be a sweet idea to make them together! get scrapes of fabric and ribbon for clothes, buttons (for hats maybe?) fine tip pens to make faces, yarn for hair, etc. and put it all together in a little basket with the promise of a craft date! soule mama did something similar. here's the link for some inspiration!

I make little bendy people that are very simple and easy to make. I got the directions somewhere on line, but since my computer crashed a few months ago I have not been able to find the link again. Pretty much all you do is bend a pipe cleaner or wire into a body shape with a little nub to attach a wooden bead head and wrap the wire with floss or ribbon.
