Ok, let me say that I am not in the habit of letting my 16 mo old watch TV, but my nieces watch a lot, the other day my son caught some of the "Doodle Bops" and he LOVED it. I really didn't want to let him watch TV at such a young age but he really likes it. They sing this song "Get on the Bus" and he just rocks his little heart out to it. Do you guys think that one little 20 min program is ok? Or am I just rationalizing?

IMHO, a little well supervised tv is ok. I am new to some of the methods around here so please no flack from the veterans. Again, IMHO, most kid shows are annoying...but if you and ur child hang out and dance for 20 minutes to DoodleBops...it can be about spending the time enjoying each other's interaction...perhaps I am rationalizing...
I say, enjoy it once in awhile...

I've been known to sing a few bars of "get on the bus" when no ones looking before.

It's our exercise time!! Music is music. It''s a music show not so much a veg out in front of the boob toob show.

I don't think it's any different than singing with Raffi but that's just me.

Both my kids love the Doodle Bops and I like them to
I like the songs and how it makes both mine get up and run around the floor. And to see my ds wiggle his little bottom and tap his foot just makes me
every time.

Wow, I always wonder what they really look like, Dee Dee Doodle is rather pretty!

My dd used to LOVE this show, she's not into it as much any more, which I'm greatful for since I find it rather annoying and those songs get stuck in my head alllllll day.

I think rationed TV time is fine. I used to let dd watch as much as she wanted, which ended up being all day. When I realized she wasn't playing with toys or doing anything children should do and that it made her cranky after half a day of watching, I limited it to one hour a day. She's been allowed 1 1/2 hours since the baby was born. I figure that's fair since she usually wants to watch a movie and some are longer than an hour. She doesn't like the limited time, but I've noticed very positive changes in her. I never meant to let my kids watch TV all day, we just sort of slipped into it, but its under control now!

I wouldn't worry about one little 20 min show.

confession time.... I let my 18 mo. old watch Barney. I DETEST it, but she LOVES it. She has no interest in a single other thing on TV, so I also figure one show is fine. I wish it didn't have to be THAT show but... I guess there's a reason they say Barney is like crack for babies
