I'm looking for a Doula who will assist me in June for my delivery at the Bryn Mawr Birth center. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions?

my doula is fabulous - used her for my 2nd & 3rd births & wouldn't dream of birthing w/o her. marilyn nolt: http://www.supportedbeginnings.com/Supportedbeginnings/Home.html

i don't think i've ever seen anyone say they wanted a doula for the BRC before. are they okay w/ doulas? i know there are quite a few midwives there.

Thanks for the tip!

Hmm, good question. I'll have to check with them at my next appointment. I didn't have a Doula with my first child and I really could have used one!

We've only had our first visit with Marilyn Nolt, but she was very warm and sweet! There's something I like about having a very seasoned doula as opposed to someone young... like she would be less judgemental than one of my peers. I'll follow-up again after our February delivery. I can't wait to have her by my side to help me out. :)

Last week, we had our first meeting with Christina, one of the founders of Wellborn Baby. They have six doulas in their group, and they do lots of births at BMBC, Montgomery in Norristown, Lankenau, and some at BM and Paoli hospitals. I'm also due in June; I live in Wayne and moved to the area this summer; PM me if you'd like!

Anyway, Wellborn. They came recommended from thebump.com message boards. I liked Christina, and she was very open about us choosing which doula we clicked with if it wasn't her. One specializes in lactation challenges, one is a psychotherapist (or something similar?), so is a great fit for families with more concerns or whatever. She posts on MDC, too, so might reply.

I loved Angela at http://www.agentlestart.com/ - she is also an amazing LC if you need one. Good luck!
