Are you looking for a birth or postpartum doula?

For birth doulas, I recommend Tricia and Jesse with MotherTree Birth Services. www.mothertreebirth.com They have offered postpartum doula services in the past, but their third partner Karen is currently pregnant with her second baby, Jesse is a new mama to 9 month old, and Tricia is currently apprenticing with our midwives so I'm not sure what they are offering.

For birth and postpartum, Erica, Victoria, Angi and ??? (I've forgotten her name!) with Renaissance Childbirth Professionals www.renchildbirth.com are also great.

For postpartum, Kimberly Bepler with ABC Doula Services www.abcdoulaservice.com is very good.

I've known Tricia, Jesse, Karen, Erica, Angi and Kimberly for over two years on both a professional and personal basis and would recommend them to any of my friends.

I'd recommend myself, too, if I wasn't busy with our 14 day-old little guy...

warmly,
claudia

I would highly recommend my receptionist... KC, she just finished her doula courses, and she is such a great girl! She has attended several births, and is herself a great mommy! PM me if you want a phone number. (BTW when I get PG she will be my Doula !)

I second the nomination for Tricia at mothertreebirth! She was my doula, and I adore her and Jesse (we met her as a backup). As a birth doula, she meets with you twice *in person* before your EDD, and twice afterwards. These sessions are outside of phone calls, so we set the meetings to be about what concerned us most.

My hospital (St. V's) birth was a PITA of medical intervention, and Tricia really helped us make decisions and roll play our 'respect me' conversations that we needed to have with nurses. We felt MUCH more in control of our birth, which in hindsight could have gotten COMPLETELY out of control pretty fast. St. V's -- even with a midwife -- is quick to suggest an epidural, pitocin, whatever. I think she freaked them out with her essential oils near me and all that, but screw 'em, it's my birth, and I trusted her completely. A little lavender on the side table never hurt anyone!

I still ended up with a c-section, but I honestly feel like there is / was nothing more I could reasonably do or wanted to do to prevent it. She also met us in our ppd room, so we were able to debrief the experience (both of us). She really treated DH and I as a team. He never once felt like his role was being undermined or threatened in any way, and even thanked me later for hiring her. Our labor was 44 hours, and he felt really comfortable taking 5 minutes away to get food (or a smoke, quite frankly), knowing I was in good hands.

If you want to know more (you're probably wishing for less at this point, aren't you?) -- I could go on all day about these ladies. Especially Tricia since I know her well. She teaches Birthing from Within classes at OHSU, too.... Just so you know more about where she's coming from. We didn't take the class, but she did some of the exercises with us.

I second me!

No really, I am Victoria from Ren. Childbirth. If you have any questions about our services, PM me! OR look us up at www.renchildbirth.com. We have 5 doulas in our group (athough someone is always out having a baby!)

Tricia and Jesse from MotherTree are great! I have know both of them for a few years. They are both great doulas.
