I didn't use them as doulas, but I wish I would have. They taught my hypnobirthing class, (this was back in 05) and were wondeful in that capacity. Of the people I've talked to who used them, I've heard nothing but good things. My midwife also rec'd highly.

Lorie McCoy taught my hypnobirthing class and was supposed to be my doula but gave me a partial refund when I ended up scheduling a c-section (coerced, fetal macrosomia, long story). I had a friend who used her for her birth and just loved, loved, loved her.

VBMom; have you talked to Jyl Krenz with Descending Dove midwifery? She is in that area. I haven't used her but talked to her at a few ICAN meetings when I was down there and she seems really great.

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. My DS is 4 now, so it's been a while, but I was seeing Sheila Love and Donna Hamilton at Omega Women's, but I was just checking out their site
http://www.omegawomenscenter.com/index.php/midwives
and I don't see Sheila listed there- Amazing Births still lists her as being there, so I don't know what the deal is there. I really like both of them though.

I've also heard good things about Terry DeFilippo.

I am just not at all familiar with anything further north- sorry.

Lorie McCoy was my doula. She was great. Very gentle and calming. In the end she was really there for me. I had a hypno homebirth. I also recommend the hypnobirthing class.
