Hello,

I am looking for doulas or midwife assistants in Kentucky, in the Fort Campbell area.

When I came here I heard that I could not have a homebirth with a midwife, because that would be illegal in Kentucky. Although, some people told me that there are always "illegal midwives" working in such areas, but of course I have no idea how to find them. So hey, if you know one, just tell her to write me

Otherwise it would be great to find a doula or someone else. I checked in the internet already but could not find anyone yet.

I am planning on having an unassisted childbirth, but I would want someone to be around after I gave birth, someone to come over and help me a bit and of course I need someone to relax my husband

So if you can help me or you know anyone who can, just send me a message, please!

Saskia, have you posted in your finding your tribe area? I'm pretty sure that those ladies will have some idea of whom you could contact in the way of midwives in your area. Also, you might try asking around after local LLL meetings. Somebody there will have had a homebirth.

Direct Entry Midwifery is not actually illegal in KY. You just need to be licensed with the state- and the state hasn't issued a license for about 40 years

If you're still interested in a midwife contact Candice: http://empoweredbirth.org/

She's a midwife and the head of the Kentucky Midwives Alliance, if she can't help you she should be able to hook you up with the right person.

Good luck!
