I subscribe to his email newsletter because I'm interested in alternative medicine and different viewpoints. I agree that he is very much into pitching products. That's such a turnoff and harms his credibility with me.

Ditto! Although I have found useful info at his site, I always double-check it elsewhere...

Ditto! I don't have any experience with him personally, but I actually have unsubscribed to his newsletter because it is sooooo sales pitchy!

I also feel that he has become more and more commercialized which has turned me off. I still reference his articles when I have questions, however, because I do feel that he is a good source of info. I was a patient of his clinic very briefly and was disappointed with my experience. I didn't receive the treatment that I was expecting from reading the website. I think if I had Dr. M himself as my dr, it would have made a world of difference, but I was assigned to another dr there. Unfortunately, I travelled a long distance and paid a lot of $ only to be disappointed. I think that if I had received the treatment endorsed by Dr. M, my experience would have been very different, however. HTH!

I think it's great overall what he supports... but he's really turning me off too. I just don't trust what he says anymore after a few things he epouses are just plain wrong.

Like Dr. Weil too, another one

I used to really look fwd to his newsletters but I don't know if HE has changed or I have. BUt, ITA, he's really sales-pitchy now. (Neat word
) I read & then go research.

Interesting, I still like the "alternative medicine" newsletter, though.

I get his email newsletter though I only bothered to read about 1 in 50. Didn't he say in one that his internet costs were through the roof? That's probably why he's pushing all the products.

i get the newsletter, but rarely read it. i agree with most of what he says, but i agree, the constant "pushing" of recommended products drives me nuts, and hurts his credibility.

I just wanted to say my mom was a patient at his clinc and had a positive experience. She did not see him as he was too expensive. The female dr she saw did wonders for her. Her chemo left her body with rheumatoid arthritis and the diet they gave her completely reversed her sympotms.

I don't trust anyone who sells and pushes supplements as miracle cures. In answering your question though, yes, I had a friend IRL who went all the way across the country to visit him. Her son had terrible eczema since birth ( and he was natural birth, BF, et). She did seem to like him, but came home on quite the supplemental regiment of a broadway -spectacular proportion!
She was also vegan, and he put a stop to that, I think really laid into her about how her diet may have caused it etc.
He definitely has his own view of the world and it is reflected in his practices IMO. not a fan.

I am very surprised at your friend's experience there. Several articles on his website indicate that he is generally anti-supplements with just a very few exceptions.

I was just going to post asking what others felt about his website and info. I really like a lot of his info but the sales pitches drive me nuts. It seems like one big high pressure sales website rather than informational.I actually decided to try the krill oil capsules but it was $9 s&h on one bottle! Forget that. I got some "inferior" ones somewhere else. I would love to hear about more experiences with him as a dr.

Hi all. I recently just started a discussion/informational forum dedicated to Dr. Mercola, and discussing related natural health. See, if you are not sure about anything he reccomends, or disagree with points that he has, come and bring it up for discussion here. All are welcome, its new as of this week.

This is a non-commercial site with no advertisements and generates no revenue, and therefore is in accordance with Mothering.com rules and guidelines. OK, hope to see you there!
