I've seen him mentioned on the boards here, and i'm just looking for more opinions on him.

We just moved to Narberth, and would like an MD who is also holistic. I home-birthed, co-sleep, extended breast feed and stopped vaccinating (one child is almost all vaccinated, one is half vaccinated and the last has not had a single shot).

I'd just like to hear anything you do or don't like about him, and maybe a heads-up as to what his beliefs are....

thanks!

I have no personal experience with him, but I have a friend who's used him and she LOVED him Hope that helps a bit. So I couldn't be more specific for you.

A friend who is a chiropracter recommended him. She takes her kids to him.

We like to hang out in Narberth Park when the weather is nicer! My girls love the sand. DD goes to MELC day care on Sabine so I drive through there everyday!

There's also Dr. Joe Price in Mt. Airy. He's an old friend and an incredible person and doctor.

I don't konw about this doc but I also just moved to Narberth and found a very holistic MD, Dr. Lisa Freedman - she was in Narberth but now is near Villanova in her own practice. PM me and I will give you her number - she also sees children (does not vax) so both me and ds are going to her.

I would love to find like-minded people in Narberth. PM me if you are interested in getting together!

I tried Dr. Freedman and didn't like her at all and a friend had a similar experience. She spent my whole appointment complaining about her personal health issues and then had me come back ($10 co-pay) to tell me that my labs came back perfect. She could have easily delivered that info over the phone and had no other insight other than to offer me her $300+ holistic testing.

: oh no - I hope I am not disappointed with her when I go back. I have only had one appointment with her for a breast problem- she didn't try to force antibiotics on me and suggested some non-medication treatments (that I already doind). Her bedside manner isn't as good as what I would like but the more time I spent with her the more she warmed up. I have an appointment with her next Friday for a physical so I will let you all know how it goes. Did you find another Dr. that you like in the area?

I've taken ds to Dr Hoover for everything (which basically means about 4 check-ups since 5 days old). He strikes me as gentle and thorough. He is softspoken (doesn't come on strong or loud), is fine with child on lap for much of exam, doesn't try to retract foreskins, is fine with no vax, actually sits back and looks at whole child (not just checking out parts). I've never had to wait for an appointment and can usually make an appointment a week in advance. I showed up one day at 1, thinking I would drop off paperwork that needed to be filled out for ds starting school and pick it up later. He just sat down and filled it out right away while I waited. The receptionist is nice. They gave me a recommendation for a pediatric dentist that I was happy with (Dr Robin Harshaw).

Drawbacks: Doesn't take insurance (which is why he can practice the way he wants). Some insurances will reimburse you. Limited hours (something like weekday afternoons 1-5, I don't remember exactly, not a problem for me anyway). If blood drawn is indicated, you'd have to go elsewhere to a lab. Not affiliated with a hospital so if there is an emergency or serious illness, you would end up with a random staff doctor.

I use Dr. Susan Sandler across the street from Trader Joe's at Suburban Square. She is very sweet and took great care to only prescribe me an antibiotic I could take while breastfeeding. Fortunately, I usually only see a doctor a couple times a year usually for something straightforward like strep throat.
