I know we had a dream thread a while back (why do the old messages disappear? I KNOW we've had more than 2 pages...) but thought the one I had last night might entertain.

It was a very vivid birth dream. It started right at crowning and went through a few minutes after the birth. The crowning and delivery part were amazingly vivid: it started pretty normal but then the head went from flexed to sort of straight so that instead of the crown, it was the top of the head. I remember thinking that I'd probably tear like that but in the dream I could feel with my hands all of the tissue and everything and was amazed at how everything was stretching and not tearing - a very good morale boost for the real thing! After the birth is where it gets weird and dreamy. The baby was really beautiful and alert and perfect when I first saw it. Then it started to morph into a troll-like figure: shrunken-head with bulging eyes, fat neck, disporportionate arms... wasn't scary or sad or anything. Just weird.

Anyone else having wacky birth/baby dreams they want to share?

Anyone want to analyze mine?!

I haven't had a birth dream since the night I concieved. But, I'm willing to hazard a guess at what yours means. I think it's a subconscious fear that there's something wrong with your babe. Maybe take some time to explore that, and decide how you'd feel if there was, and what you'd do, etc.

Well, THAT's not what I wanted to hear! :LOL I'm not sure you remember, but I posted last month about a weird fear that there was something wrong. I got the same advice about exploring the feelings and thinking about what I'd do, etc. and I took it and I've been in a very good place lately. I really feel happy and calm about this baby. The only rational (and maybe it isn't) thing that seems off is that no one can ever determine the baby's position for sure. There seem to be too many large hard parts. My midwife says that it's just too early because when they're little and skinny like this, she can't get a grip on them to determine. I'm measuring the same as with DD, so she's not saying twins or anything. When I joked about a malformed freak as she was palpating last time she just told me to shut up (we've got that kind of relationship). So, I dunno. I think I feel OK but maybe there is that subsoncious thing going on... ?

Maybe I should just stop watching the Discovery Channel specials about two-headed South American babies...

Uh YES! Specials about malformed babies during pregnancy is likely not going to help!! :LOL

I'm sorry if I made you all nervous again. But I don't think there's anything specifically WRONG with your babe, just that maybe that fear needs a lil more working out. Or maybe it WAS working it out in your dream, and you don't need to worry about it anymore. Pregnancy dreams are weird. I had really really violent dreams in the first and part of the second trimester. Thankfully those have subsided, and now they're not scary or violent anymore, just vivid. Sending peaceful dreams vibes your way.

I had a very weird dream a few nights ago. Prior to it I had been concerned that the u/s just missed the boy parts and was fretting over it because I am carrying so differently this time etc. I was wishing that we hadn't found out because then I wouldn't be "expecting" anything in particular etc. Sounds dumb, but anyways.

So this dream I had was weird because we were able to "play" with the baby in utero. There was like this magic window or something because it was all very calm and nice and nothing crazy like cutting open a window. While we were playing, we checked the sex and determined that it really was a girl.

Sounds so strange but it really calmed me. I mean I know that the u/s could still be wrong but now I am really calm and relaxed about it all. I stopped dwelling on the differences between pregnancies and started calling the baby "she" again.
