My dd really wants something like this dress up chest for Christmas, but from the reviews the Costco site has, it seems that the outfits will be too small for her. She's only 4.5 but wears about a size 6--she's pretty tall.

Any ideas?

I used to get Halloween costumes for dress up. I don't know where you'd find them this time of year though. Maybe a thrift store or clothing liquidator store?? Even if you can't find any specific "dress up", you may be able to find some fancy dresses, etc.

We don't have dressing up clothes as such but we do have some fancy things that have a dressing up feel to them and I buy different pieces of fabric and we can tie them up differently to make dresses/saris, witches costumes and other things, also I often make some clothes out of crepe paper and a stapler - it gets the imagination moving in all the senses. Then a few good face paints and we're set, masks and hats are great fun to make and then use in the dressing up box. have fun

This year I'm buy just regular fancy dresses for my 5yo to dress up in. She's outgrown most of the 'dress up' clothes you can buy. Plus, this way she can dress up to her heart's content and still look appropriate to leave the house

I've also made dress up clothes for my kids in the past.

I'd love to be able to find some at consignment/thrift store . . . it's just been hard to spend a lot of time looking because I have a newborn and a 2.5 year old, too.
Maybe this weekend I can find a way to sneak out.

We bought that set from Costco last Christmas. My DD is also 4 1/2 and still wears the clothes. She is tall - 44" and 40 lbs and a size 5. The dresses are a bit short but otherwise fit though I would definitely hesitate to buy them new this year.

Thanks! That's what I was kind of afraid of though, since my dd is about the same size as yours. I don't want to get her something that will only fit for a few months. I appreciate the information!
