Okay. So heres the deal.

I usually check DRINKING on my chart if I have had more than say....2 drinks? Mostly because while I hardly drink much 'volume' wise, I do occasionally have 1/2 glass of wine before bed, or a pint with dinner if we go out. This cycle, I've not had anything at all in my TWW to drink - until last night. Husband and I went to pub for a burger, and I had a pint (of BOMBIDIER my new favorite beer...) and then split another with him. So 1.5...if even.

In the past my drinking more than this has never affected my temps much, maybe by .2 degrees. HOWEVER, friggin look at my chart.

What is up with THAT bidness?? I checked it again before I got out of bed at 8:30...and it was 98.61. The highest my temp has EVER BEEN in the morning. EVAH! The AC is set - and is always the same every night. I was hot as heck last night. Crazy dreams. Even dreamed I found out I was pregnant. Which has never happened. Oddly. I was restless - probably only got a straight 2 hours before my 6:30am test time...not 3 - but this is typical for me.

My questions are:

1. At what point (how many drinks) do you consider it enough to fess up on your chart. That is if you record symptoms...

2. What should I think about this rise??? 5dpo is too early for implantation...my boobs don't even hurt yet. So I wonder what caused it to jump like this?

Tentatively...freaking stoked.

Alcohol can cause poor sleep, or restless sleep, which makes your BBT higher... it's all about patterns with charting, so one day by itself doesn't mean much. To which I say BLEH STUPID BODIES COULD YOU NOT MAAAAYBE GIVE US A HINT?

For me personally (a more-than-occasional drinker myself) I don't think 1.5 would do much. And I think it depends on how much you drink, etc. Meaning, if you rarely ever drink, then that person might see more of a rise. And everyone is so different, ya know?

I think either way there is something else at play : because if it's something you do occasionally and you never see a rise like this, then something has to be driving it!!!

I'd think more the sleep disturbance than anything, if it's an "external" cause. But whatever it is, your temp is 98.6! Woo for dead-on core body temperature!

I can't wait to see what your chart looks like tomorrow. I know that isn't helpful. :p

yea...but I hardly EVER get 3 hours straight sleep.

I have been waking less throughout the night since starting acupuncture though.

i'm sure it was just a fluke. im definately not sick. and i do think that tomorrows temp will be more telling.

I just have never seen a temp this high that wasn't related to illness before. Makes me wonder. And I hate to get myself all pumped up for nothing. But I also can't help but think this may indicate something DIFFERENT this month.

Thanks for your comments all.

I know that for me 1 1/2 drinks OR disrupted sleep would never cause that kind of a jump. In fact for me it wouldn't make any difference at all. And I seem to remember a couple of months ago you posted about a night where you were up like all night long (and temping a little high during the night) but still your morning temp was normal. So it would seem to me that you aren't someone whose temp is dramatically affected by disrupted sleep either.
Your chart is looking REALLY good so far...I will be stalking it for the next few days for sure.
::

you'll know tomorrow whether it was due to the alcohol or not : it wasn't

I have to drink a lot, like enough to have a hangover, for it to really impact my temp.

I always put alcohol on my chart. I just figure I would rather know what my chart was like looking back. I don't always have a reaction, but sometimes it is like yours. It depends on what type of alcohol, how close to bedtime I drank it and what/how much I ate before. I have had a big ole jump from wine, but wine makes me a little silly and warm anyway.

In the 4+ years I charted to avoid before TTC my chart was never effected by alcohol. I think it's an individual thing, if it usually effects you then it does and if it doesn't... then it doesn't. Same goes for the amount of sleep you got... I used to be able to temp at whatever time I got up after however much sleep I got and not have it effect my chart. That was just normal for me.

I KNOW it's super hard not to focus on the day to day changes in your chart when TTC, but in a few days you'll know whether today was a fluke or not. : that it's not!

I've been coming back to stalk charts, and the first thing I thought when I saw yours this evening Zen, was "OHHH!!! That looks promising." It could be a fluke, but I choose to believe it is something better :. I've also never had a drink or two change my temps more than a .1 or .2 degrees, certainly not a jump like that. Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :.
