Hi all, sorry I've not been posting much, just lurking really. Well the end is approaching. The baby has dropped. I'm not sure how to post a picture but I did on my blog if anyone is interested in seeing the difference. It was really odd. I was watching a movie sitting still on the sofa for an hour or so and I was fairly uncomfortable, I could feel a bit of pain in my pelvis and nerves twanging, and when I stood up to go to bed half my bump was gone.
I can breath now (woohoo) although I'm still getting heart burn (boo). My midwife does her home visit on wednesday so it'll be interesting to see if the head has descended at all.
I also have much more energy and am feeling so much happier than I have for ages. Also getting a bit narky about cleaning...signs it may all happen soon.
Anyone else dropped?

Yesterday! I woke up yesterday morning, and could hardly sit through breakfast, she was pushing down so hard! I noticed I was feeling "heavier" through the day, and when I got dressed, I noticed my new stretch marks, lol!

My mom nearly had a cow in seeing the difference between my saturday belly and my sunday belly. I'm even lower today, because my boobs are no longer sitting on top of my belly!

laangel, you seem to lead the most idyllic pastoral life! The view from your backyard is spectacular. I love all of the crafts you do with the kids. How many weeks are you? With my second baby, I never "dropped" that I noticed until the birth. I couldn't quite tell by the angles of the photos you posted, but I am sure that you know your body better than anyone else. With my first, I dropped a few weeks before the birth. I was really disappointed to go 9 days "late" because I was sure she would be early. I think it's a sign of progress but not of imminent birth. Good luck with having patience!

I dropped sometime overnight Friday, the first time I've ever dropped before labor. Saturday night two different people commented on how low the baby was, that's when I asked DH and he said that yes, s/he is really low. I can breathe a little easier too, but the heartburn is still here.

Yep, I can see your belly is very low. My baby dropped about four days ago and then lost my mucus plug yesterday morning. From what I've read though, these two things mean absolutely nothing! For me this is good because I am only 33 weeks. It's fun to see my body preparing in some way to have the baby though!

Christina, thanks very much for your kind comments. I'll be 37 weeks on Friday. I think that my son did drop towards the end of his pregnancy too (going by the sciatica) but it was nowhere near as visible as this.
Heidi, I'm waiting for my plug now too. I lost it with dd 3 days before she arrived (at 34 weeks) and with ds (10 days late) it came away after a stretch and sweep and I almost spontaniously went into labour. So I am expecting that to be a more imminant sign, although as you say these things can mean very little ;-)

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and yup the head has gone right down. It is 2/5 presenting, meaning that it's 3/5ths engaged! Exciting! I'm also 37 weeks now and can have my homebirth, I am nearly ready with all my prep too.

Yay! That's good news. I am looking forward to my appointment this coming Tuesday. I'm so curious to know what my cervix is doing. Till then I'm going to take it easy because I've been a little concerned but I'm hoping the doctor will tell me everything looks fine.

i went to chiro for a pelvis adjustment, next day my belly dropped and that neat little 'shelf' below my boobs is gone! at the same time i started with pain at my pubic symphysis, which has been steady for the past 3 days. that i am not happy about!

exciting progress, i am happy to be able to eat more!!
