The back history is that it's Isaac (it's always Isaac) who has severe asthma and tends to land himself in the local hospital at least once each summer. His big triggers are mould and atmospheric pressure, btw. Anyhow, we knew he wasn't right, let him go anyhow, and I got the phone call yesterday morning from my ex to let me know that they'd had to take him in.
They're literally on the other side of the country and up a bit.

What would you do? Would you go over there to be with him, even knowing there isn't anything you could do? Or would you let the non-custodial parent handle it?
(And if you're a stepmum, feel free to reassure me. )
I didn't go, and trusted the ex, but I feel pretty bad about that decision.

I'm trying. I'm trying really hard to let go of the guilt- Isaac even told me not to go (and it's money we can't spare at the moment, either.) I just want him back home.
On the bright side, they let him out of hospital this morning, which is a good thing.
