So, my 4 1/2 month old ds has been rolling over onto his tummy, doing mini push-ups and kicking his kegs. What happens next? Will he start to do an army crawl? Basically, I am curious about what his next development will be.

I think it really depends on the babe. He might do the army crawl, he might start rolling the other way, maybe he'll start pushing up further and then eventually to hands and knees. Maybe he'll scoot when he is sitting up.

Mine son went:
rolling front to back
rolling back to front
various stages of pushing up with his hands
sitting up
pushing up to hands and knees, then rocking
crawling

Do any mamas to older babies remember how long it took before moving forward happened after rolling & moving in a circle?

Here is what my DD did:

6 weeks: rolled back onto tummy
3 months: could easily roll both ways, and do big pushup
4 months: briefly started rolling to get places
4.5 months: she could sit briefy on her own, and she started army crawling, she could also "walk" if we held her under her armpits
5 months: pulled up to stand, could walk holding both hands (she never cruised)
7 months: classic crawl, and could go upstairs on her own
8 months: could take a few steps and walk holding one hand
10 month b-day: dropped crawling entirely

I used to read all these types of posts because I just found it so interesting watching her develop. It seems like there is no normal. Babies seem to do things in different orders and in different times.

Anyways I would think your LO would start sitting or arm crawling next!

my little one is a little different she can roll front to back and vise versa, but she really is not interested in being on her tummy, however she can sit unassisted for long periods even righting herself and "walking" with us just giving her balance with her hands in ours. She really isnt interested in crawling so far, but will happily sit and play with a rattle for half hour to hour periods (yes she is already that good) she is 4.5 months. Apparently my DH never crawled just went straight to walking at 9 months, so we shall see.
