My 5 mos old DS went to the Pedi on yesterday and was diagnosed with a viral infection and he was very congested.
The ped prescribed breathing maching with meds, antibiotics and decongestant meds. I am wondering if it's all worth trying to force it down his throat. I think the breast seems to be the best medication at this point. All he wants to do is nurse and sleep and he seems to be getting better.

I'm confused. If your ped says this is a viral infection then why did he/she prescribe antibiotics?
: My pet peeve is doctors overprescribing antibiotics since it makes them less effective when you REALLY need them.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but doesn't it also increase your risk of getting thrush when your DC gets antibiotics?

ditto.

antibiotics, imo, are only warranted when there is a bacterial infection that can cause complications if gone untreated. have you tried any homeopathy?
you can find a homeopath near you to treat him for his acute illness.

Acute cases usually run about $50 (much less than copays for drugs)
