Hi mamas (and dads). Boy, do I need some advice! My dh just got a fantastic job in France! We are sooooooo excited to be moving there together with my 6 year old dd. We live in Colorado, land of multiple exemptions, and have never vaccinated her. Meanwhile, she goes to public school, summer camp, etc...without refusal because of the exemptions. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>
Anyway, French schools require both a TB vaccination and DTaP, NO EXEMPTIONS! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/angry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="angry"> However, we have resolved the TB issue by telling them we are living there temporarily -so they've agreed to just have her tested for TB each year.<br><br>
Any advice for a way to vaccinate dd more safely? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/bag.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Bag">: I know that sounds ridiculous......should we do the vaccination in a different combo? I've already done a search and found some input on what herbs, etc to use before and after...but, I can use all the help I can get.<br><br>
Merci in advance! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hug">

Is homeschooling an option for you? I personally think there is no "safe" manner to vaccinate and would not vaccinate my child under any circimstance. Good luck!

Wow! I really have no advice. If they require the DTaP, there is no other combo you can get it in. They make T, DT, and DTaP, that's it. Maybe you can get a DR here to sign something that she's allergic to the shot (my son reacted to that one) and that will do or they can lie and say she got it (just trying to think of things)? You of course can give her things like Vit A and C to help if you do get the shot. Good luck!

I think in Europe they will separate D, P, and T on request... that may have changed. At least you could have them spread out if they are 100% inflexable w/ no exemptions. I despise them all but homeschooling is not realistic for some.

That's true sometimes I forget that other countries make vaccines differently. If you get it in the US though, to get P, they have to be together.

Do you have a friend who's an MD? Just have him sign a shot record without giving the vaccine. It's done in Europe quite a bit. And if not here, do it over there.

Check to see the ages usually given--here in USA they do not give the DaPT to kids over age 7

Do you have a free health clinic somewhere or your DR might have one. I know the only one I got for AJ was in his happy you were born card from the governor. I don't have a clue where it is! I forgot about the over 7 part! If you can hold off till her 7th birthday, she can't have the shot here and I don't think there is one quite licensed yet in Europe either. In that case, that would at least cut out one thing in the shot.

Try your DD's current school. I realize school is out now, but I think the offices are still staffed for part of the time at least.<br><br>
Good luck<br><br>

Somewhere on the CDC site there is a pdf for blank shot record forms, plus an example of how to fill one out. I know I've seen it linked to from this site before, but I can't find it now. I wouldn't usually recommend faking it but in your shoes I think I would make up a completed record. It's not like the school is going to send for your daughter's medical records from overseas, right? Maybe if you search through the vaccine archives you can find the link.<br><br>
ETA: I found it -- <a href="http://www.cdc.gov/nip/recs/immuniz-records.htm#recs" target="_blank">http://www.cdc.gov/nip/recs/immuniz-records.htm#recs</a><br><br>
You would want to print out the sample record for children and teens. The second page of the document shows how different vaccines would be recorded. If it were me I would probably record the DTaP, polio, and MMR so it wouldn't look suspicious. You could get an idea about what dates to put down for each one by using the feature on the CDC chart that makes an immunization scheudle for your child based on their date of birth: <a href="http://www2a.cdc.gov/nip/scheduler_le/default.asp" target="_blank">http://www2a.cdc.gov/nip/scheduler_le/default.asp</a>

Wow! I'm overwhelmed by all the support and truly devious thinking here, folks! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>
I'm checking into all your suggestions, but am reluctant to lie or "bend the truth". However, it's good to have options and I have a bit of time before I need to exercise any of them. If there are any other ideas, please keep them coming!<br><br>
Will absolutely look into regulations for vaccinating over 7 year olds with DTaP in France. DD will turn 7 just before school starts. :nana: Wish me luck! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

I would homeschool if I had this situation.Oh and the mantoux test insert<br>
is online at aventis. It too can cause allergic reactions.Ofcours the other option is x-rays or a deep from the lung sputum test.
