I was charting on FF and I had 5 cycles after PPAF.. first 3 were Anov.. and on the 4 and the 5th cycle I O'v.. got pregnant on the 5th cycle PP.. I KNOW my cycle lasts 42 days.. NOw my question is... ???<br><br>
How come when you go see an OB/GYN they ASSUME everyone has a 28 day cycle and thus gives you a DUE DATE that reflects that theory?? My Dr. says I am due NOV.3rd!!! She is going by my last period which was Jan.27th and yes that due date would be correct if I O'd on CD14... But I O'd on CD27!!! I know I conceive on this day (give or take a day) and so FF shows my DUE DATE as Nov. 14th.. of course this is more accurate.. BUT WHY do Dr's just throw that info out and give you their own due date even after I told her I have a 42 day long cycle??<br><br>
It really irritated me that she left my Due date as Nov 3rd... so you know what'll happen now.. Nov. 3rd will come around and of course I won't be due for a couple more weeks at least (this could happen) and then she'll want to induce bc to HER I will be over due.. This happens all the time with women. If a baby isn't ready to come out then most likely the DR got the due date wrong... I just don't want to get put in that situation. Now everytime I go in she will be judging my baby to be two weeks ahead of what she really is... what would you do???

What about printing your chart and taking with you next time? If i were you, i'd do that!

I would fight for those 11 days...that could mean a lot in the end as we all know.<br><br>
My sister when through this as well; however, she doesn't chart and her periods are wonky. She ended up being induced, yet she only had 6 weeks of paid maternity leave and her spouse is a SAHD so is felt to get have the time with son, it was the best option. IMO, that sucks. In the end, he didn't look like a post term baby so once again their generalizations about O'ing suck ass.<br><br>
My mw has me down as a 28 day cycle according to my due date, which my cycles are 30. Two days is two days!<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:

I'd get a new ob (or midwife) if I were you. I had a milder version of this argument with a hospital midwife (to whom I will not be returning) and it led her to say really negative things about my beta hcg levels when they were FINE for how young my embryo really was.<br><br>
This initial doctor-knows-best kerfluffle about your due date isn't setting up a good precedent with your caregiver for the rest of your pregnancy.

Are you opposed to u/s? I had some crazy non-28 day cycles and my mw is planning a u/s for dating. I wasn't charting (sort of surprise baby) or anything, so we really are up in the air, lol. But it could help you proove to the ob you're right.

I told my MW that my cycles are 32 days. And even with that slight variation she kept saying I "could" get a dating u/s so she'd have the most accurate info. I laugh how different this experience is from having a doctor. I asked the MW "Do you THINK I should get a dating u/s?" and she kept saying "It's up to YOU". I am not opposed so she set an u/s appt up for me.

I'd kindly but firmly insist on 'my' due date. I didn't even tell my Dr my LMP, just when I was due and how many weeks I was at my first appointment. Thankfully we get along, and she trusts me, so she didn't even ask.

I just told my midwife that I knew what day I O'd and that would make my edd Nov 16. I don't even know the day of my LMP, but I know I always O between days 18-20 so I wouldn't give a dr my real LMP anyway since they'd use it for dating and have me further along than I am.

I'm all for making up an LMP consistent with the EDD. So my "LMP" is 2/20, even though I did IVF, had bleeding starting on 2/18, and last real period was sometime in January. If you know when you O'd, backtrack 2 weeks and lie. Ditto. My LMP was Jan 18, but I go by Jan 26 to make it appear as if I ovulated on day 14 <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">

Ladies.. what's a dating u/s..?? Sorry hadn't heard that term before. yeah.. i agree with you all and am now looking for a new OB/GYN.. Here in LA at my Hospital.. Midwives can not do appointments and deliver babies unfortunately and it's ben so hard finding the right Dr. who compliments my insurance! I want a Dr. more into Natural birth too. I also plan on hiring a GREAT doula. I will def. tell the next Dr. what my Ovulation date was instead of LMP.. Great Idea! Many mw/obs will order what they call an "early dating ultrasound" if there is question about your due date. They can measure the baby and pretty accurately nail down how far along (to the day) you are.

Is that the same as doing a vaginal ultrasound.. bc after We had the discrepency on dates.. she said I was 6 weeks.. I say 4 weeks bc I know when I conceived.. she did a vaginal ultrasound and said well you are measuring 6 weeks. Should I speak up about a dating u/s??<br>
And I am looking for a new OB/Gyn too..

Well, I know when I O'd and my MW has been pretty good about it all. From O-date, I'm due 10/31, but based on my early u/s, I'm due 11/4. So she said to split the difference and make it 11/2! Now, if it were more than just a few days difference, I'd definitely say something. If my MW/OB didn't listen to me, I'd definitely have to consider changing practitioners.
