Dumb (crib) question

574 Views 5 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  TheGirls
I've read that the crib mattress should be lowered to its lowest setting when baby is sitting. Does this mean sitting unassisted after being put in a sitting position or when they're able to pull themselves up to a sitting position - or both?
Thanks, mamas.

I did it when she could sit unassisted after being put in a sitting position. Seemed like she'd be learning how to do it any day now so it seemed like a good idea.
Doesn't it depend on how tall the child is when sitting and when standing?

we lowered to the middle setting when she could sit unassisted, to the lowest setting when she started to pull up. not that our crib ever got that much use, mind you...

Ditto. We also removed the bumper guard, as they can use it as a climbing booster.

Mine was pulling up and cruising before she could get into a sitting position alone, so I'd lower it when she can sit alone.
