I am in tears. We live in Mexico, where the rules are not the same, and she attends a Montessori school, she just turned 3. Never been vaxed. The school sent notice: the Health Dept will be coming on Wednesday, send us this note signed if you DON'T want your child vaxed.

She didn't go to school on Wednesday for that reason.

Thursday, I pick her up. Teacher tells me, "the Health Dept. came today, not yesterday--(upon seeing my face) but don't worry, they only gave her a Vitamin A drop, it's oral, no reaction" I said, "Good, because I only get her vaxed in the States (lies, her record is falsified--here, you can't get a birth cert if you don't have a vax record, which you can't get anywhere but from the Health Dept--scary, scary control) and I DON'T want her vaccinated here."

My child then gets sick. Coughing hard, schnoppy nose, last night a fever. As she drifted to sleep nursing I asked her, Sol, did you get a shot at school? She drowsily said that yes she had. I freaked and inquired further, but she was gone.

This morning: Sol, did you get a shot at school? yes--and she SHOWS ME THE NEEDLE MARK.

I don't know what she got, and then I ask her: did you get some drops as well? She says Yes---I ask, one or two? TWO, she says.
PEOPLE, this means they gave her vitamin A drop yes, and POLIO LIVE VACCINE not even given in the States anymore!

I am livid. I am seeking the school director's telephone number. I am so angry I could spit nails.

I just want to share and get some support--trying to keep it in perspective, but am so angry I don't even KNOW WHAT THEY GAVE HER!!

If they gave her vitamin A, they probably also gave her the MMR. (that would explain why she's sick, too.)

I'm so sorry...I'd be livid, too. But she'll be ok.

Horrible, I know. I'm sorry this happened.

When you speak to the Director, try to remain calm. Get the info YOU need first (an accurate record - WTH - where the hell is the accurate record of what they gave her?)

If this is "the law" I don't know how you could have gotten around it (oh yeah, bribery ) ahead of time.

I find it odd that they on the one hand said "sign this form" and then went ahead and did it anyway. The law?

Well, at least she got this at age 3 and not at age 1, when most babies get this shot. Her system is a little more mature because of that. It's also good that they gave her vitamin A long with the MMR- something that, to the best of my knowledge, they don't do in the USA.

I think your primary goal right now is to document exactly what she received yesterday, so you can prevent her from getting the same things again.

Thanks for asking, she is having a nap. This child hasn't had naps in months. She is needy, coughing, schnoppy nose, just a little warm.

I found the slip of paper we were supposed to turn in signed if we didn't want any vaxes and it said what they were planning on giving all the children(I wonder if she got them all):
--polio (sabin)
--megadose of Vitamin A
--albendazol, a deparasiting drug
--DPT booster

*sigh* I'm pretty sure she got them all, I mean, why stop at 3?

I wrote a letter to the school Director, and I have her cell #, but I haven't called. I'm truly not sure what my next move is. Tomorrow we were scheduled to go visit another school I'm considering for next year, a Waldorf school, and I want to do that, but I also want to grab this bull by the horns first thing tomorrow morning.

For the record, I got the slip of paper on Friday. Monday & Tuesday were official holidays, Wednesday was the day (I didn't take her). Why would I bring the slip of paper signed supposedly the day AFTER it happened? This was my response to her father, who in his benevolent ways of making me feel better, asked why I hadn't turned it in on Thursday. :

They did not tell me about it upon dropping her off Thursday, either.

That's awful. I'm so sorry for you guys!!!!!!!!! Good wishes for her to feel much better soon!!!!!!!!! This was something we worried a lot about as well before we decided to homeschool--I can't believe it actually happened to someone. My heart goes out to you.

I'm glad you are raising hell! Can you take her out of the school in the meantime? It sounds like they aren't trustworthy--first in allowing this to happen and second in lying to you about it. I would worry about what else they are doing.
