That's a good question - that book does tell some pretty gross stuff. Most of all, the book makes you want to stay away from ground beef - the changes of contamination are higher.

Anyway, I don't know if I have an answer for you. For the occasional meat that we eat, I get organic from reliable sources or from farmer neighbors.

I just finished this book too. :puke Yuck. Okay, yuck is an under statement. I think I am just going cut way back on meat consumption and just buy it at Whole Foods. No fast food ever....blech. And it's not so much that there are 30 to 40 cows in any given hamburger you get at a fast food place, but I'm not wanting to support the meat packing industry. Although, that'll probably be hard to do completely.
