How in the world do I get her to sleep? She hasn't slept more than 5 hrs. out of the last 36 [neither have I
]. Every time I try to sit her down she starts screaming. Forget lying down .... aggravates the ear infections. I tried putting her in the swing (she used to
sleeping in the swing) but she got hysterical. I've given her Hylands for her teeth, the meds from the doctor for her ears, and Motrin
: but she still seems to be in so much pain. Is there anything else I can do for her?

not so patiently waiting for the on-call nurse to call me back ....

(((Hugs))) This is so hard!! How about putting a few drops of warmed up olive oil (or garlic ear oil, if you have it) in her ears? this is our big ear infection trick.. It works amazingly well to relieve the pain. And teething gel - never did a thing for our first dd, but it really helps my 11 month old when her gums hurt.

((poor babe)) ((poor mama)) !!

We've been trying to cut tooth #6 for 2 looooooong weeks, and hallelujah, it cut through last night and today I have myself a happy, sweet baby again. It's amazing.

Hope you and baby get some sleep!!

Heathenmom, happy thoughts are sent your way!! That must be soo tough. I was a baby who suffered from chronic ear infections- my mom was finally told to try removing milk from my diet when I was two- it did the trick. I've also worked for a Chiropractor and learned that many babies have a "subluxation" at the first and second vertebre which can sometimes affect ear drainage. With adjustment, often times ear infections clear up!! No pain or meds required! Might be worth having it checked out. I've taken ds since 5 days old. Very gentle with babies! Ask around for someone that people really like.

Hang in there!!

Definitely chiropractic!!! Babies who are under chiro care get VERY few ear infections, and don't have the pain that can mimic an ear infection, confuse doctors, and result in baby getting unneeded antibiotics.

Thanks for y'all's comments. She's doing much better but still not sleeping much.

RE chiropractic for babies: I
chiropractic for me, but never considered taking Fiona, mainly because I have so many back problems that my adjustments are usually quite painful (even though I feel better afterwards). Is it really safe & gentle enough for babies? That's a stupid question ... if it weren't, y'all wouldn't take your sweet babies!

*sigh*

Life is very unsettled right now, which may be contributing to the problem. Once things calm down a little, if she's still having trouble, then off to the chiropractor we go!

Thanks again!
