DD 10 mos was just diagnosed with a mild ear infection, after about 2 months of what I suspect may have been WC. I thought this was a cold, but it came on very quickly and DH made me take her to the ped (new one, I think pretty good). I've been trying to get her to take SA, but can't find a good way to get it in her. She doesn't swallow much when I use a dropper, and isn't letting us spoon feed her. I haven't tried giving it in a bottle of EBM because I don't think she would take a bottle from me. She barely takes them when I'm at work without the milk tasting funny from the SA. She won't take it out of a cup from me.

So, I resorted to taking it myself and just hoping that it gets to her through my milk. Based on weight, I think about 15 grams would be a good amount for myself if I were sick. I haven't been consistent enought to find if this is my bowel tolerance, although it definitely seems to give me gas.

Does anyone know if enough can come through in my milk this way? Also, we got probiotics at the ped and I was wondering if I could do the same with this?

I did read that you could spray it up their nose. Would that help w/ ear infection? Could I make a solution and drop it in her ears? I put a few drops of BM in her ears - I could dissolve it in that. But how much, and how often?

I will also try to pick up some garlic and/or mullein oil at the HFS tomorrow. How would you suggest combining these approaches?

Quite a challenge for you awesome mamas! Hope you're up for it! Thanks in advance! (Especially Gitti, you've already helped me so much! )

Anyone know how much SA and/or probiotic might end up in BM? TIA!

From what I 've read, if you take the SA 20 min. before nursing the SA will be in the milk. But I guess you have to take a pretty good dose and still only a small part will make it through.

I don't know about the probiotics.

My grandson 1yo is on SA right now and we, too, have a hard time getting him to take it. Although we got a brand that tasts pretty good.

He takes it in water with a wee bit of natural sugar. Without the sugar - no way. So we had to put a few grains of sugar in the water. Then he will sip on it all day long. He doesn't get nearly the does he should have.

My dd takes it also and we are hoping between two sources he gets enough to benefit him.

But he is very good about taking the CLO and all homeopathic meds.

Hope your lo feels better soon. My grandson has been trying to heal himself for about 5 days now. He is fine one minute and sick the next. 5 days off and on he's had a slight fever. He ought to have enough immunity soon.

What ended up working the best was to make a paste out of it with a few drops of water or BM and smear it on my nipple. But I think she is getting wise to it so I'm not sure if it will keep working. She did take the paste off my finger though, so I will try that again next time. Good luck with your grandson and thanks for your help!
