Hello all,

This is my first twin pregnancy. I felt my singeltons move about 16 weeks. I have been having the strangest bubbly sensations for about a week. I will be 13 weeks tomorrow. I feel it now as I type. It is very quick movement on both sides and does not last very long. I do not think that it is gas.. I think that it is real movement. How early is to early with a multi pg?

I have no experience with this, but I've heard you often feel twin movement earlier, so I'd guess that it's possible. The mamas in the multiples forum may be able to give you an answer...

I can't wait to actually feel movement. If I'm very, very, still and quiet I've occasionally been able to feel, or sense something that *might* be movement a couple time in the last couple weeks, but it's not anything I can be sure of.

I'm sure you're feeling the babies. I've felt my singletons at 15 weeks, 11 weeks, and 10 weeks respectively.

I've been feeling movement since, oh, not quite 12 weeks. I'm 15w tomorrow. I describe it as "butterfly bubbles", little bubbly feelings like a tiny butterfly bouncing around. Last night, I did a quick doppler check, and actually got to feel/hear the babe move. Kicked/hit the probe area, in fact, and I felt the bubbly tap when it did it.

I'm actually suspecting twins for other reasons (but won't get confirmation for another few weeks).

Anyway, my guess is that twin mamas can sometimes feel the babes earlier because there's less room in the "middle" to play in...they're more likely to be near the uterine wall where you can feel them wiggle and kick. Just my opinion, though; it could be wrong.

I believe your opinion. They do move quite a bit. I am positive now that it is movement. They are strong little ones. I am 13 weeks today and my uterus is just below my naval. I have been measuring weeks ahead. Thanks for the advice all..

Er...yeah, actually I'm thinking less "great surprise" and more "terrifying, life-altering surprise".
My fundus is AT my navel, and like I said, I'll only be 15 wks tomorrow, so it's actually a real possibility. Eeek. It's going to be an interesting appointment with my midwife next week.

But anyway,
: yay on feeling the little ones!

Oh I agree with you completely. We had the ivf so we knew that it was possible. Nothing prepares you for the first u/s. We were happy but more afraid than anything. I hope that you get the answer that you are looking for.

I started feeling my twins around 13 weeks, but I wasn't 100% sure that it was the babies I was feeling until 16 weeks (and then I was like, "oh, I've been feeling this for a few weeks now!"). With my singleton pregnancy, I first felt the baby around 11 weeks. Once you know the feeling, I think you feel it earlier.

We have a teensy eensy twin suspicion about this pregnancy too. It's quite unlikely (we had a u/s to time the insemination and we only saw one follicle), but I don't think we'll feel at peace until we know for sure . . . been a bit traumatized, I think! Dw's acupuncturist felt something in her pulses that made him wonder if maybe she was having twins. I don't know anything about how accurate that could be. Otherwise, her HCG levels were high (not off the charts, but definitely in the twin range), her fundus seems to be measuring a bit big (doesn't really mean anything at only 11 weeks, but it's been above her pubic bone for quite some time now), and she, herself, is a fraternal twin.

I feel 98% sure that she's only having one baby, but that 2% of uncertainty does keep me up at night sometimes!

Congrats to those who are expecting
!

You wouldn't hear a second heartbeat unless you went looking for it. Even when we heard two heartbeats (after knowing I was pregnant with twins), I often felt like we were hearing one baby twice.

I wouldn't worry to much. It is very common to miss a h/b even on u/s. Does your provider seem concerned? I would definitely bring it up at your next appointment. Good luck

It took quite a while to find the one heart beat, so I'm assuming theres only one baby for now, until an u/s proves otherwise!
I also read that the heart beats tend to synchronize, so its never a great indicator, anyway.

Lex,

Your family is beautiful. I love red hair and freckles and I can't forget about that cute little bum. Thanks again for the advice and have a great pregnancy.

I agree with Lex. It was hard to tell the difference in hb's. The babes were very close together and my m/w said that she thought we were hearing the second babe only because one was 170 and the other was 160. I am the queen of run on sentences.

I've possibly been feeling movement. Not at all sure, because there just seems to be so much STUFF going on in there now... uterus stretching and "tweaking" (how it feels), gas and digestive stuff all the time, and just random pheasants and wheels. But sometimes I think, "was that the baby?"

I can't wait until I'm feeling it for sure!

I felt movement today for sure. I THOUGHT I did a couple days ago. But today I was sure. I am 11w5d. I felt my last 2 move fairly early, like 11 and 12 weeks.

It is exciting.

I felt movement 2 days ago for the first time. Then again yesterday. At my mw appt she was trying to find the hb and was having trouble - I directed her over to where I felt movement and she found it!

Am I the only one that feels almost as if "I AM really pregnant!" when you hear that sweet sound? I love it!
