I was at Whole Foods last week and noticed that Earth's Best has infant formula now. Not that I advocate formula, but I know on this board, especially with the SNS and lact-aid users, formula is sometimes necessary.

In Canada, Presidents Choice brand has come out with the first organic formula. It's brand new (a couple months since it hit the shelves). My ds has a bit more spit-up with it but I'd rather that than going back to Similac!

The name sounds a lot like the Wal-Mart brand, Parents Choice. I wonder if the same company makes both formulas.

Earth's Best Formula used to be Horizon Formula. Horizon was only sold in the western states as a trial.
We used it for the first 7mo for my DS and liked it, but he was spitting up a lot and it turns out that he seems to be lactose intolerant. We switched to Nature's One Baby's Only soy formula with great success.
Nature's One (both dairy and soy) is marketed as a toddler formula, but it does meet the nutritional requirements for infants. Especially when we needed to move to soy, I felt so much better knowing that there was an organic alternative and I didn't need to worry about GMO soybeans!
BF was not an option for my adopted "overnight" baby, so I am very glad that organic was!
(I didn't know about the walmart brand at the time, but I probably wouldn't have gone there anyway due to concerns about walmart's corporate practices in other areas.)

Okay, that looks awesome, but its $19.99 for 13.2 floz!!!! Thats $40 a day... I don't even eat $40 a day.

Guess I'm going to have to wait until baby is eating solids to do the organic thing. Then its nowhere near as expensive...

I'm positive that Presidents Choice and Parents Choice aren't the same thing. Presidents Choice is the big generic brand at Loblaws stores (Superstore, Extra Foods, etc). I've seen the Walmart brand formula here and it's different.

Although, apparently the same lab that makes Similac makes the Presidents Choice ones.

My ped said to use goats milk formula because it is closer to mom's milk then cow and goats milk is organic. You can get the same goats milk formula in powdered form at Whole Foods but at least here it is in the bulk aisle for some stupid reason. It is a white can and about $10 which is half the price of Horizon/Earth's Best. Anyways that is what we supplemented with when I worked PT.

My 12.7 oz powdered Baby's Only makes about 84 oz liquid. We use 1 can every 2-3 days or so.
WF offers a case discount of 10%. Other stores do, try asking!
In our area, EB is $14.99/can & Bby's Only is $9.99 (actually less expensive than conventional formula for the same size, even more so with the case discount!)
Another local chain around here (Nob Hill) has EB for $12.99/can, which is less than the case price from WF, but DS doesn't do well with the dairy formula anyway.
Anyway, hope this makes sense... organic formula can be just as affordable as coneventional!
