Easiest on your back??

898 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Yummymummy74
I love slingin' my now 19 pound 13 month old...but I gotta admit...it's getting tough. My back is not the strongest thing and I keep getting this pinched nerve along my shoulder blade. What is the safest, easiest on your back that supports correctly for an older baby?? I'm desperate. I love carrying him (and he loves it too).

Spam always welcome!

I have to chime in here! KOZY KOZY KOZY! there cannot be much more that is *kinder* to your back...I have a horrible back! that has been worsened by 8 pregnancies
and I have to say this thing hands down wins for me, yes even over the didy..shhhhhhhh many mornings I wake up feeling like my back has been stampeded on by a herd of???? LOL

Ok that said! my 19 pound 6 month old daughter is sleeping currently on my back as I type (she has been there for oh...3 hours? LOL) Also I find I can use it with ease for my 2 year old, my back does not hurt when wearing this or after taking it off.

Hope this helps you some, its very versataille and it really does give superb support.

That's good to hear Marsupialmuma - I've recently ordered an ABC (EBMT to be exact) because my back was starting to bug me with my ring sling.

8 pregnancies?! OMgosh, I think I've found my new hero!! I wish DH would let me have 8 (well, maybe not 8 but definetly more than 4) babies!!

I went to the kozy site and it totally looks like it will work for us. Do you have a pouch or reversible? Does the back position work for you? That is the one that my son likes the best. He wants to see the world!!

Thank you so much!

Anyone else have a fav for a bad back?
Definitely a wrap carrier (my personal favorite is the Ellaroo) or a Kozy. I
the Ellaroo for the versatility so, if I had to have only one, that would be it. Plus, I find that when I get a nice, tight wrap cross back carry, there is almost no pull on my shoulders. I have a history of horrid back and neck problems and can literally carry my 38 lb. 3-year-old for hours. But the Kozy is really comfortable, as well. I love the padding in the shoulder straps and the way it distributes the weight mostly to my hips. I find, though, that I can't carry him for quite as long in the Kozy without getting an ache in my lower back. It may just be that I don't have it tied well enough, though.

I would guess that this is the case. In my unpadded ABC that's not all that well made (it was my first attempt), if I tie DD on way up high and tight on my back, I can wear her for a lot longer in that thing than any other carrier, and I am 8 months preggo.

I don't remember the thread, but Darien (from Zolowear) described how to wear the Kozy WAY up high (waist straps above the breasts) so I started doing it and it's really great!
Ohhh, Kris can youy tell me how to do that?!!!

I read that, too - it looked really cool. But I'm guessing you have to actually have boobs for that... especially with such a heavy kid. :LOL
Trust me, I have no boobs! They aren't required. :LOL The straps just stay up there somehow. I hadn't really analyzed it...
Interesting! I am guessing Torso length has something to do with this! I can wear dd six months very high and she can see over my shoulder and the waist strap is...well at my waist! LOL

Not sure what to tell you! LOL I do have to say though its so ultra comfy...we were on the wait list for a second for my dh and now its on its way! yeaaah!

Both of ours are canvass with a pocket...mine is natural canvass with a flower power pocket (GREAT for putting stuff in) and dh's is a black canvass with a kalaido pocket...(he choose this on his own)..

I highly reccomend the pocket option...I got this idea from my trekker I loved the pocket! lol and the kozy pocket is actually bigger
